For those getting off the train their first impression of Rakuen is one of dreary, overcast skies. Although it's blessedly dry, the platform is still dark from a previous rainshower. The gaggle of uniformed greeters there to meet you are armed with umbrellas and school coats: on one side, four students in black and green; on the other, five in red and white. Whilst those in green are all unremarkable humans - mostly teenagers - the red group are a tad more varied. That is to say, one of their number is tiny, a girl the size of a small child, and her wings are beating delicate patterns in the warm air.

When they notice the hiss of the train doors, one out of each group steps forward.

"Can I please have your attention," A blond youth in the red and white starts; he explains that they're all prefects of Rakuen, having arrived just like you have in the past five months. Enrolled in the two battle schools on the island, like you. Fortitude - a long-haired boy and the others dressed in green nod or wave - and Conquest, as he indicates his comrades.

"I know you have many questions, and we'll answer as many as we can. But first, we have to sort you."

The long haired boy stepped forward to read out the list for those entering Fortitude, "Estellise Sidos Heurassein and Koishi Komeiji"

You're falling, and you can't remember why. It's a sickening feeling that makes your insides lurch; the darkness and the vertigo combine, and all you can think of is a story you heard once, somewhere.

Ah, I remember now. It's... a simple story that everyone knows. A legend of a Princess, the Demon Lord who kidnapped her, and the Knight who fought to save her. The Demon Lord had kidnapped the Princess countless times, but every time the Knight bested his challenges and rescued the Princess. No matter what tricks and ploys the Demon Lord used, the Knight would always triumph in the end. This was because--

The world tilts on its axis one last time, and the dream slips from your mind as easily as it arrived. A new voice intrudes on your sleep. Mechanical, monotonous.

"Next stop: Rakuen City. This train terminates here. The next stop is Rakuen. All change." The train rocks steadily. If you look out the windows you will see flower filled meadows and a drift of smoke from the train passing the window blending into the grey sky. Inside the train it is warm, the heaters are running blowing hot air from under the seats.

It's strangely difficult to shake off the sleep; the rhythm of the train seems to lull you back into slumber and the air is warm and heavy, making it hard to keep hold of a thought. Finally, though, the nausea settles, the last of the dream fades and you can take in your surroundings. And, perhaps more importantly, those around you in a similar state. The train judders to a stop, and just outside there is a building and people gathered on the platform.

"We have arrived at Rakuen City. All passengers must leave the train. This train is terminating here. This is Rakuen."

For those getting off the train their first impression of rakuen will be gloomy, the sky is grey and there is a fine drizzle that soaks you before you even realise it's raining. There is a group there to meet you: on one side, four students in black and green; on the other, four in red and white. Whilst the green group are all fairly average; all teenagers, the red group are a tad more varied. "I know you have many questions but first please come to the person who calls your name."

He looks down on his list to double check "For Conquest Apollo Justice and Naesala."

As Sunday dawned students would once again be informed via screens that all students were to report to the battle arena for a joint assembly. Worrying considering the events of last week.

However once the prefects had escorted the last of the students into the battle arena and Dunleavy came to the stage she smiled.

"Greetings, I hope everyone had a good round. I am pleased to announce that Conquest won this round, I hope you spend your extra raks wisely. Congratulations to those who won battles both within their schools; Suzaku Kururugi, Ein and Jack Noir of Conquest and Rebecca Harcourt, Nanami Asagi and Merlin of Fortitude."

She smiled again glad to be reporting good news for once instead of bad, "Also to those who won interschool battles; Arthur Pendragon and Yuka Kazami both of Conquest. No one won the round but do not be dismayed, the winning conditions are meant to challenge you and I am sure you will all do even better in future."

So far there seemed to be no reason why this assembly was here and not in the schools as usual but Dunleavy continued.

"This next week shall be the fourteenth round since you began to arrive, you have all worked very hard regardless of whether you arrived fourteen weeks ago or just last week. This next week is therefore a chance for you to relax and have fun, catch up on school work and let your hair down. There shall be no school and no required battling. I do however expect you to behave yourselves." Certain members of the audience got a level look at that.

"Some of you have been selected to go on a school trip, I am sure you will have a lot of fun, and make many new friends whilst reforging old bonds." Again as sometimes happened with Dunleavy she spoke as if she were reading, her voice flat. Names came up on the screen and she read them aloud.

"Conquest
Suzaku Kururugi
Cirno
Flynn Scifo
Arthur Pendragon
Ein
Cheshire Cat
Vanezio Lykastis
Yuka Kazami
Hikaru Hitachiin
Kaoru Kitachiin
Yosuke Hanamura

Fortitude
Rebecca Harcourt
Shion
Yuri Lowell
The Holy Empire of Britannia
Sora Himoto
Alex Furest
Merlin
Komachi Onozuka
Nanami Asagi
Brittany Speares
Jules de Ferrier
Sora Himoto
Juri Arisugawa"

The list was longer than a usual player list and when she was finished Dunleavy turned back to the audience. "If your name has been called out you have one hour to gather your things, clothes suitable for traveling will be on your bed and there is a packed lunch for everyone in the common rooms of your dorms to eat on the train. If your have extra warm clothes or coats please bring them as it may get cool especially at night. Once you are ready please report to the train station."

Rakuen is warm in the noon sun, not humid enough to be uncomfortable but bright enough to make the transition from train to platform momentarily disorienting. "Excuse me." A second boy, with long hair dressed in green and black is just behind him. He explains that they're all prefects of Rakuen, from the two battle schools on the island. Fortitude - the long haired boy and the others dressed in green - and Conquest. They all arrived just like you did, weeks or months before this.

Rakuen is warm in the noon sun, not humid enough to be uncomfortable but bright enough to make the transition from train to platform momentarily disorienting. The group greeting you is rather large, but also rather uneven - on one side, ten students in black and green; on the other, six in red and white. Whilst the green group are all fairly average, all teenagers other than the tiny, frail woman leading them, the red group are a tad more varied. One of their girls is tiny, the size of a small child, and her wings are beating patterns in the warm air. At the other side of the group, a warlike man looms over his comrades.

When they notice the arrivals, one out of each group steps forward. A young man wearing shades steps forward first.

"Excuse me." A second boy, a few years older and more serious looking steps forward from the red group. He explains that they're all prefects of Rakuen, from the two battle schools on the island. Fortitude - the boy in the sunglasses and the others dressed in green - and Conquest. They all arrived just like you did, weeks or months before this.

"I know you have many questions but first please come to the person who calls your name."

He looks down on his list to double check "For Conquest, Nanami Kiryuu, Hukaru Hitachiin, Madotsuki and Aria."

"If I call your name," the green-clad boy had stepped forward again, "it means you're with Fortitude, a.k.a the slightly more awesome school. Brittany Pierce, Jules de Ferrier, Izumi and Furiae."

If you look carefully you might catch a drift of smoke from the train passing the window. Inside the train it is warm, the heaters are running blowing hot air from under the seats.

"Excuse me! Over here!" That's all she's contributing for now, her counterpart steps forward from the red group to continue. He explains, more calmly, that they're all prefects of Rakuen, from the two battle schools on the island. Fortitude - the girl in green waves - and Conquest. They all arrived just like you did, weeks or months before this.

"Please," he finishes, holding up a clipboard. Which seems rather unnecessary given how few names he has to read, "Come forward when we call your name, and we can answer your questions. I'm sure you have many."

As the Conquest prefect, he reads, "For Conquest school: Yuka Kazami," and leaves it at that.

"I'm Sora," the girl adds, "We're from Fortitude. Come ask us anything, even if I don't read your name! Let's see... Asagi, Juri Arisugawa, and Shion."

As you all crowd onto the platform, which is drenched with sunlight though the air is cool you are met by six girls and ten boys. One of the boys seems to be a blue Hedgehog and one of the girls has wings; but the rest all seem human. All sixteenn are in uniforms that would match if not for the colour differences - skirts and trousers, waistcoats, and light summer shirts that seem totally inappropriate for the chill. Some seem irritable while others look excited. Each has a beret with a crest pinned to the front - nine depicting a shield on green, the other seven a sword on red.

At the first lull in the chatter, a frail looking girl with a shield on her cap steps forward.

"Excuse me, may I have your attention please!"

She explains that the sixteen of them are the current prefects of Rakuen, representing the two schools on the island. Nanami (she gestures to herself), Lelouch, Yuri, Sonic, Jade, Sora, John, Rebecca, Dirk and of Fortitude; and Santana, Flynn, Kevin, Gino, Suzaku, Golbez and Cirno of Conquest.

The introductions are over fast and the girl named Santana seems impatient, "So come over when your name is called so we can all get inside." They all move to stand in two groups some distance away from each other; a boy and a girl step forward and begin to read names from a clipboard.

Golbez, the Conquest prefect made an imposing figure, standing there with his perpetual glare on his face, as he read off the names. "Dave Strider, Cheshire, Isabela, Jade Harley, Jack Noir, Hideki Hinata, and Hiyo Shishidou."

Despite what seemed to be a broken leg slowing her down, the Fortitude prefect; Jade looked almost excited in her prefect's outfit and neon orange T-shirt that came to her knees. "Okay, the people I read off are for Fortitude! If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them, but please don't threaten me with violence... Komachi Onozuka."
