[No answer because Shion is searching for him. Luckily Shion can go anywhere Dave can since he has Dave's permission.

He finally found him in the courtyard, by which time he was out of breath and very worried. He didn't speak, just went over and wrapped his arms round him. Because hugs made things better... right?]

Yes, I'm glad that despite the unexpected turn of events, everyone was able to rise to the challenge. It makes me hopeful for the future.

[He almost threw Shion off him. Impulse, only because things draping or wrapping around him were either threats or smuppets. Neither were exactly things he was incredibly fond of. He just stiffened up a bit, relaxing a tad when he recognized it as Shion.]

[Shion didn't let go even when he seemed about to throw him off, it wasn't like Dave couldn't get out of his grip easily if he wanted to.]

What happened to John? [Still hugging.]

[Dave is conflicted. He wants the hug, but hugging isn't really what coolkids do. And it's kind of awkward. And he isn't used to this. And, dear lord, the raging emotions going on cannot be tamed.]

[Raging emotions or not you are getting hugged. Shion closes his eyes when he speaks, so John was gone...

He didn't know what happened to those who disappeared, and he wasn't sure if there was a correlation between the fact John had been in a coma so much and him disappearing. But if Dave wanted to believe he had gone home, or somewhere to be a hero like out of a story, then Shion wouldn't crush that belief.]

All the more reason to try and escape, so that you can see him again.

[Dave has his doubts. He's just clinging onto the chance that maybe everyone just went home. The tower made him worry though. It couldn't just be coincidence that it was filled with Weapons. Weapons belonging to people. People he met and fought with or together.

But he was going to deny it for now, if only to avoid the impeding breakdown that would result from the thought of John being amongst them]

I don't-- [ She sighs, and lets one of her hands drop into his lap, away from the other one so she can't hurt it. ]

[ at this point, after a month of pulling and tugging at those matted areas, Jade is thinking she might... ]

[He rests his head on her shoulder lightly.]

'It'll grow out again. We don't have to cut too much off if you want to keep it long. Just a trim or something. Someone here must know how to cut hair. If not, we can go to town and get it cut.'

[Even after he finishes tracing letters, he keeps his hand on her arm. Gentle and light. Even if the subject change was kind of out of the blue, he rather not talk about John being gone. At least not right now. They were both sad, and he knew this probably affected her more than it hurt him. Maybe. He doesn't know. He rather push his own feelings off the subject though.]

[Frankly Shion likes Lemina's theory that the weapons are just their for storage, not peoples souls at all but just things inserted into their souls on arrival.

He wasn't sure either theory made sense but Lemina's was less depressing, more hopeful. Didn't leave the question to why people's Weapons would be left behind when their bodies left unanswered.]

Yes, only five more. [Five more monsters... could they defeat five more creatures?]

I want all the mats gone. [ She reaches the free arm around to pull at her tangled hair. She's cut some of them out, but... There are more. There are always more. She can't figure out how to save her long hair. ]

Am I going to look silly?

[Dave doesn't know what to think. He doesn't really want to think about it.

He just assumes there's a lot more to this place than they can even grasp right now.]

[Although he couldn't really imagine her with short hair, always used to her having so much of it. But he didn't think she'd look that different with short hair either.]

[ She's sniffling a little bit. Her hair has always been very important to her; Grandpa had encouraged her to keep it long, like one of the blue ladies. Would he still like it if she cut it? Would it still look good? ]

Exactly [Another hug and he moves away] It will be fine, I promise. [Now if only he could believe it himself.]

'Duh. I've seen girls with short hair. They looked rad, but I bet you'll blow them all away. No one will look as rad as you.'

[He even draws a little heart at the end of that. Because he cares enough to do silly emoticons.]

[Dave doesn't mean to lecture. He just doesn't want to be given empty promises. Both of them know they don't really have any way of knowing it'll be fine.]

Okay. [ O-oh a heart!! She thinks, and then carefully draws one back, on his shoulder. ]

[Shion looks down, Dave is right. He shouldn't promise things he had no control over, he should not believe that he had that power. It would only end in disappointment.]

I'm sorry, then I promise instead that I will do everything in my power to make sure you get home safely, I can promise to try at least.

'How 'bout we ollie outtie this broom closet now. You feeling better?'

[He draws two more. He will outdraw your hearts with his own!]
