On the platform: Meet the new characters

As you all crowd onto the platform, which is drenched with sunlight though the air is cool you are met by five girls and eight boys. One of the girls is a somewhat humanoid grey-skinned, finned alien and one of the boys seems to be a blue Hedgehog; but the rest all seem human. All twelve are in uniforms that would match if not for the colour differences - skirts and trousers, waistcoats, and light summer shirts that seem totally inappropriate for the chill. Some seem irritable while others look excited. Each has a beret with a crest pinned to the front - six depicting a shield on green, the other seven a sword on red.

At the first lull in the chatter, a frail looking girl with a shield on her cap steps forward.

"Excuse me, may I have your attention please!"

She explains that the eleven of them are the current prefects of Rakuen, representing the two schools on the island. Nanami (she gestures to herself), Lelouch, Yuri, Sonic, Jade and Sora of Fortitude; and Santana, Flynn, Feferi, Kevin, Gino, Suzaku and Golbez of Conquest.

The introductions are over fast and the girl named Santana seems impatient, "So come over when your name is called so we can all get inside." They all move to stand in two groups some distance away from each other; two boys step forward and begin to read names from a clipboard.

Suzaku, the Conquest Prefect reads in a short clipped manner, his posture stiff. But his tone is kind. "For Conquest, Arthur Pendragon, Stellaluna, Nepeta Vantas and Jadesprite."

The Fortitude prefect, Lelouch, on the other hand looks bored. "Jane Crocker and Merlin are for Fortitude."

[Suzaku nods at the students as they come over to him, prepared for the onslaught of inevitable questions.]

FORTITUDE

[Lelouch, on the other hand looks bored as hell. New students will come to know the as Lelouch Standard Mode. He knew Suzaku had seemed off lately but he hadn't much opportunity to sort out what it was. Besides, he had other things to address.]

[Arthur saunters walks over to Suzaku with his head held high, he may not know where he is or why he is here but he's still a king and he has a reputation to live up to and portray]

[His voice probably gives away the fact he's important where he's from] Explain yourself. Why have you taken me? [you're lucky he didn't throw punches and ask questions later]

[A whimpering and whining dog girl didn't seem to answer to any name. She just hovered on tge platform sobbing.]

[Suzaku turned to him, his posture one of a soldier. He recognises the tone, it is one Lelouch uses often enough. One expecting answers.] I have brought you no where, I was brought the same as you, but almost two months ago now. This is Rakuen city.

[unflinchable]

[Suzaku holds himself like a Knight, so Arthur easily slips into Commander-mode]

[in the same commanding tone:] Rakuen City. In what kingdom does it preside? If you have not taken me then why have I been taken? If you are imprisoned as well why are you not in a dungeon.

[Suzaku wasn't sure how to deal with small crying animal children but he approached her cautiously.] Hello [His tone is kind and gentle, or trying to be at least.] What's your name?

[swordofzero]

[Suzaku waits until all the questions have been asked before answering them, Arthur's attitude is making Suzaku act more knight-like as he replies.] We don't know if it is part of a larger country or if it is an independent city, it is more likely the latter. We have been brought to battle, and to solve a puzzle that if we succeed at will let us go home. The motives of those that brought us here are unclear.

They don't need dungeons, we cannot leave the island.

[unflinchable]

[Arthur looks out across the water]

There is no one on this island who can build a boat then? [he looks over at the train] And what is that magical box that brought us here? It is a sorcerer who brought us here, is it not?

[he pauses] You are a Knight, to what Kingdom do you hail?

[swordofzero]

You can't get past the wall. [Blink] No, the train is... It is not sorcery, it works on a power source. Moving along those tracks. [He points them out]

I am a knight of the Holy Empire of Britannia.

She looks at him and seems to think a moment, neon tears still rolling down her face. "I don't kno-ho-ho-hoooow!" And she started sobbing all over again.

[ That girl looks like her. That girl looks like her.

This is one of those things that Jade doesn't want to know. She might be backing away from the line of Fortitude prefects right now. ]

[sobsprite]

[Jadesprite catches sight of Jade] Did you bring me here? I thought I told you I didn't want anything to do with this... [sniff]

[greenspaces]

I didn't-- [ Backing away even faster now. ] I don't know you! Why do you look like me?

[sobsprite]

[She floats toward her] I... I don't know who you are either. I don't know who I am! I don't know what happened, but I know you have something to do with it...[She starts sobbing again.]

[greenspaces]

[ NOPE NOPE NOPING INTO THE SUNSET GO AWAY YOU CAN'T COME IN FORTITUDE ]

I don't know who you are either, but you stole my face and now you're following me, please go away!

[fracturedsoul]

[ What have we here. ]

Is your retro-anterograde submission enforcement causing issues for you two?

[sobsprite]

...Huh? [sniff] Woof.

FORTITUDE

[overbiterestart]

[Jane Crocker steps towards the Fortitude prefects as her name is the only one called. It seemed the other three were being sent to the other school.

She won't say a word. Yet, she hasn't seen a soul she recognized.]

NOPE

[ Oh. Well, shit. Another one bites the dust, it looks like. Are they ALL going to wind up here?

Dirk steps forward as soon as he hears Jane's name called, despite the distinct lack of a beret on his head. ] I'll take care of this one.

Hey, Crocker.

[overbiterestart]

[Oh now she's relieved. It's Dirk.]

Hey, Strider. I see you're in my new mystery dream home.

[fracturedsoul]

Not just me. Jake, too. And you're not gonna believe half the shit we've got to tell you.

[ If Lelouch has nothing to say about it, he just starts to lead her back toward Fortitude. Convenient, that assignment. ]

What's the last thing you remember before you woke up on that train?

[overbiterestart]

[Well, she will just get everything settled with Dirk instead of Lelouch she guesses. The guy looked pretty cranky- she doesn't tend to like to bother cranky people.]

I was in the game, Dirk.

[greenspaces]

[ SHE HAS NO IDEA WHAT THAT MEANS BUT SHE'S CONTINUING TO BACK AWAY ]

What is she?

If I had to wager a guess, I'd say she's a sprite. [ She has similarities to Davesprite, and Suzaku had called the name Jadesprite. ] Perhaps prototyped with an alternate version of yourself. Is that right?
