Introduction to computer programming
Characters: Alex Furest and anyone from FortitudeAlex stands in front of the class, awkward as usual. This is his 17th class, and he still was not comfortable in front of the class. He fumbled with the textbook, "Ah, u-um c-could you a-all go ta chapter 2? I m-mean 3. P-page 48." It actually started on page 49, but that's the facing page, so who's counting?
Format: Either!
This log is: open
Location: Fortitude computer lab
Summary: Alex is teaching another of his daily classes and figuring out that he's forgotten a number.
Warnings: Should be none~
"So, uh, t-today's functions a-and abstractions. S-so, uh, s-see if you c-can find some sub-programs in the things we've d-done, and... uh, lemme know." While he let people look at things they've already written for sub-programs, he busied himself again with a program for the PDA he has started working on.
((OOC: if anyone is interested in where I'm getting his lessons, I'm using this course as a guide for the lessons... not that anyone has to get technical or read any of it.))

He walks over later, swallowing, "B-Becca?" His voice squeaked a bit as he said her name, "d-did you, u-uh, f-find an e-example, o-or something you think's a-an example?" His eyes darted between the computer and the drawing, not quite looking at Becca, not that he was ever good at looking people in the eye.

He kept walking as if he had not slipped it to her, though he was clearly very nervous, starting to rant on the use of sub-programs

That evening, she headed for the forest quite early, it was only half past seven when she went out there. She settled under a tree with a notebook in her lap, sketching herself as an angel with a flaming sword as she waited for him to come.

It seemed to Alex to take hours to cross that field and he felt sick to his stomach with nervousness, but he kept marching on. It wouldn't be fair for him to abandon her there.
When he got close enough he spoke, albeit softly, "I-I'm sorry." His voice sounded dry and he coughed a bit, bowing his head in shame.

He takes a deep breath and smiles a bit at her, though he still looks pale and extremely nervous. "I h-had some t-time ta think about it, a-and, w-well, I think, I think I m-might like you too, b-but... I-I'm not exactly the best s-sorta person ta have a relationship."

"I j-just get scared a-at the idea of having a r-relationship. I d-dunno why exactly, but..." He shakes his head, "I d-don't wanna h-hurt you..."

He had been willing to try a relationship with another programmer he had met in his world, Kaylee. She had originally been against him and his friends, but he had managed to impress her with his computer skills as much as she impressed him, and she listened when he explained why he and his friends where doing what they had been- she even betrayed the C.R.P., a risky move- just for them. He liked to think it was for him.
But they hadn't been an official couple, so it's not like his growing feelings for Becca was cheating on her, but, as it stood now, "I-I... I h-have a c-confession too... B-back home, th-there's a g-girl, a p-programmer, like me. I had a c-crush on her, b-but we weren't t-together...
"R-right now, I f-feel about y-you l-like how I f-felt about her a-at first, b-but, w-well, if she showed up... I c-can't h-honestly say what I'd do." It was bad enough that he came with baggage, but to come with a crush on another girl, even though he liked Becca too, he was worried it would be a deal-breaker and hurt Becca even more.

"O-oh," she murmured, stumbling backwards a step. She didn't know what to say to him, didn't know that there was anything she could say that wasn't worthless. "I... I hope she comes soon, then. S-so you can be with her..."
She turned and fled, sobbing as she went, just needing to get away from him. It felt like she'd been stabbed in the gut and had everything inside ripped out.

"W-well, b-because I'm f-falling for y-you too."

There weren't words to respond with, there just weren't. And though she knew touch was a hot-button issue for both of them, it was the only thing she knew to do. She leaned forward, trying to slide an arm around his waist. And if she could get a hold of him? She'd cling. She'd cling hard and just cry onto him.

She sighed happily, content to suppress that urge for the moment. Kissing was too much right now, she didn't want to spook him right when they first started out and he'd already said that it spooked him once. So she just nuzzled into him, content with his willingness and their closeness.
