After shenanigans at Recette's shop, Dirk has some deliveries to make -- memory charms for Dave and Sis, and memory charms plus upgrades and those Prospit dreaming pendants for Jake and Jane.

Aw man, and movie night is tonight also... He's gonna be busy today.

Throughout the day, he can be found around Fortitude and Rakuen, and lurking about outside the borders of Conquest.

Dirk just let Dave go. He wouldn't push himself on him.

He turned to walk the opposite direction. His world's versions of Dave and all of his friends were dead, so when he thought about it, it made sense that Dave's world's versions of Dirk and his friends were, too. Not that he was just going to just up and ask Jade or anyone else about their guardians.

Yeah. Don't recall it all that clearly now that the charm is off. I just know in a textbook sort of way what happened, without any real emotional connection to it.

Be lying if I said I wasn't jealous of those regenerative properties.

Dave was probably just going to sulk on the roof again. Maybe try to contact Sis. He didn't really want to talk about it though. Not even with her. Just...how do you tell someone that she was supposed to die? You don't.

[ He rubs at the side of his nose at the reminder. ] Yeah. It doesn't hurt anymore.

Hah. Now that was irony. Dirk knew full well that humans were fragile creatures, easy to kill; so few of them were left in his time. Yet when it was someone he knew and cared about...

Precisely. That's a nice, logical way to think about it.

And yet he remembered that when he'd had that memory, Dave hadn't really been all that okay with it. He'd actually been pretty distraught.

And hey, it's yet another uncanny similarity between our timelines.

He could feel the beginnings of a headache. It was far from the worst pain he had ever experienced, though.

[She holds a bag out to him as well, a memory charm. Do you know how many unreal airs that took sir?]

[ He takes the bag, looking a bit surprised. Two in one day? Holy shit. ]

I didn't have to, no. And hey, I'd like that. Together we'll be an unstoppable force of nature, blazing a path through the stores of Rakuen--

[ He kind of trails off as he clips the charm onto his bracelet and his memory comes flooding back in full force. Or rather, not flooding. Because Jane lived before that. So did Jake.

That's a good thing. Because if you ever use Dian, you're going to die.

You got nothing to worry about from me. [ He holds his hands up in a gesture of surrender. ] Just glad I could help fit the pieces back together.

Not that the shopkeepers really like us buying an unreal amount of this crappy skateboards, golly, the lady seemed a little displeased at me asking for them to balance me out to zero.

[She grinned a little. Clipping her memory charm on, SWEET GOODNESS. That is what that is. She just kinda steps forward and puts her arms around Dirk. Sweet, she can hug again.]

Haha, you're learning well, grasshopper.

[ Oh. Is that what she got back? He's still kind of awkward with hugs, but he'll accept it. And hug back, grinning slightly. ]

Jane. You believed what I told you before, right?

[She nods.] Four memories down, six to go. I suppose.

[There are many unanswered questions.]

[She is literally just going to stay here awhile. A whole month without hugging is the worst thing ever, oh my gosh she is grateful to have this back.]

Of course I do Dirk. I believe every word. I thought it was outlandish at best, but, I believe you.

[ ...though he wonders. If she's forgotten that thing Dave remembered earlier. He doesn't ask. ]

[ He's not complaining. This is... gosh, actually the first real hug he's ever had, discounting the various hurt/comfort shit that's gone on since he arrived. ]
