[Forward-dated: Monday afternoon] [Tower Boss #2]

Location: Conquest campus, starting from the tower plaza and spreading outwards.
Summary: As the Conquest Tower opens, the island enters its second boss battle. Read this if you're confused.
Warnings: Fire.

[ This battle is nowhere near as surprising as the arena wyrm's attack, but there's something fundamentally terrifying about globs of fire raining down on you from the sky that that last one didn't have. Whilst the buildings, with their sudden blue sheen, seem immune to the flames, the Players and Weapons outside of them are a tad more exposed.

The firebird is content to make regular, swooping passes at the fighters, which whilst dangerous due to its talons, puts it within range of the melee weapons. It isn't very fast, and is forced to avoid the roofs of the campus in its attacks. Its fire is only dangerous when it's directly overhead. ]

[ Sora, as a melee fighter, is waiting in its path to slash at its legs on its attacks.

This is both brave and really stupid so someone should probably give her tactical advice ]

[ Having no idea what to do with them, Golbez has given Suzaku his own slash harkens to use and is wielding only Lelouch's sword. As before, he's given his own Lightning Rod ring to Lelouch to wear. The flames are too widespread for him to draw them completely, but it's at least better than nothing.

Whenever the beast dips close enough, he's on it like white on rice.

Jade isn't strong enough to throw me on her own, and I can't jump that high.

We need you to! Sora could get really good shots in!

You overestimate my strength. [ And his stupidity. ] I don't think this is a good idea.

[ ...well, it's no more ridiculous than some of the things his fellow party members did back home. Palom In The Sky? ] Very well.

[ He hands Lelouch's sword to Jade for safekeeping and picks Sora up. He takes a moment to take aim aw yeah he's got a Dex boost, and then pitches. ]

[ Oh sweet jesus her best friend cuddle buddy is flying through the air. ]

[ NEW BAND LEARNED: SORA FASTBALL SPECIAL ]

[ whoooooos-- she manages to snag its neck as it lunges past them, and suddenly she's off-balance and splayed out on the neck of a giant bird. Half of which is on fire.

There is no way this is not awesome and nothing can go wrong. ]

[She planned on staying away, but something drew her to the battle anyway. She was no good at fighting, but yet here she was. Oh well. For some reason she felt like she should find Jade.]

[ Here is Jade! She has a few minor burns on her arms but is looking pretty okay anyway. In her hands she's holding both of her Quills, busy shooting what look like lightning bolts at the giant Firebird. ]

Jade! Are you okay? [Oops trying to stay out of the way!]

[Cirno just decided to charge straight into battle, not even worrying that she had not been vowed yet. She wanted to fight and make sure others didn't get hurt, not worrying about her own safety at all. She was flying in the air, throwing rocks at the beast as it swooped down.]

[ She's stopping the fighting for a moment - the Firebird looks like it's not going to drop any fireballs on them right now - to hug Jadesprite really quickly. ]

I'm fine. Are you fighting, or are you leaving to stay safe?

Um, I'm not very strong... [she's looking kind of nervous] I just. I wanted to make sure you were safe. And help, maybe. Somehow.

[As much as throwing rocks has been effective for Ein, this does not appear to be a time when it will be anything even approaching useful.]

[Lakshmi drawn, and, as before, his Exaclan glove worn over his regular glove, covers himself with ice shots as he makes his way over to her. Seeing as she is flying, he yells. He also can't see the lack of "owned Weapon" mark on her hand.]

I don't think that's going to work too well! Do you need your weapon or are you a Player without one?!

[Ein appears to have gotten lucky, as his (at this point) sole weapon has ranged water attacks. He'll stay on the ground, dodging or almost dodging the rain of fire as necessary.

He'd battled a phoenix before (and then later its Dark Progenitor counterpart), as well. This didn't look like it would get too much harder for him.

But if any Conquest discard recognizes or doesn't recognize him, he'll vow with them.]

[ using his own sword is something Flynn hadn't realise he'd missed until the previous round, but now it's almost familiar again. Since there are enough fighters, he's equipped Elemental Shot and is now concentrating on diverting it from the dorms with blasts of light.

Diverting it from the dorms, and from the people leaving them to join the fight, that is. ]

[Arthur knew that Flynn would be better off using his own weapon than one he wasn't familiar with, it was an easy decision to hand it off, just as it had been easy to give Yuri his own weapon. But that had left Arthur weaponless until he quickly vowed with Gino and found himself with a halberd.]

How do we defeat such a creature?
