Conquest round 12

When all the students were gathered for the assembly at twelve noon on Sunday of Round Twelve Day stepped forward her face stern. She was joined on the platform by Santana and her team of Prefects; Flynn Scifo, Cino, Suzaku Kururugi and Golbez. Conquest had two more prefects but they were both unconscious.

"Good morning." Those who had been in Rakuen long enough would know the warning of her tone. The lack of extra raks in their bags the day before would have told them that they had lost this last round, though those following the battle records carefully might be a little confused at that.

"I would like to remind all of you that though I wish for victory, victory can not be achieved without participation and last round it is in participation that you failed."

A ripple of pain went though the audience as the battle records went up. "There were no Conquest only battles, disappointing. How do you expect to improve when you do not practice." Pain rippled through the Players of last round.

"However Ein beat Dirk Strider, well done Ein, Aly beat Onozuka Komachi," no well done for Aly as she was no longer a member of the school, "And Isabela beat Dirk Strider, well done Isabela." Day's eyes narrowed, "America lost his battle." America would be hit with a penalty, not too strong though.

"But at least he fought... you lost the round because of lack of fights, something you will improve on next Round.

Her eyes glittered and she took a bite of apple. "You all know the price of failure but let me tell you the price of not fighting at all is worse."

With that Arthur Pendragon was hit by a full level penalty. Day glared at him the whole time, even if he had already been punished with a fine she had to make her point felt.

The punishment went on for five minutes, anyone who moved or spoke got hit.

When it was finally over she glared at the audience. "Turn it around in Round Twelve, go out there and win, but more importantly fight. Anyone who fights less than three times will regret it next week."

With that the names of the unlucky Players of Round Twelve came up.

That hug got her to relax a bit although she was still worried about everything. She did offer up a smile and a hug back though to show she appreciated the hug.

"I know..but..This is my third time being a Player. First time I didn't win a single fight and then last time..."

A pause. She tries to think how to explain it without going overboard. She is quiet for a good long moment, looking down at the ground before looking back up, her features schooled into a serious look.

"It was bad. Not only did I lose...Someone attacked Miss Day...so not only did we get punished for losing, we also got it for someone hurting her. I wanna believe that this round will be different."

She tilts her head a bit at the last bit, now curious, "What do you mean? Help me how?"

Yuka shook her head a bit at the mention of Day. "I just don't understand what she thinks she can accomplish with this approach." The part about an attack seemed strange. It didn't sound like it was in the context of a proper battle. That raised several questions in Yuka's mind, but this didn't seem like the time to pursue them.

"Well, you've probably never fought with a parasol, have you? I can give you some tips on how to use one well, and we should be able to practice some too."

"Miss Day is just that way...Even in class. So I dunno. But we haven't won even when someone is trying to get everyone to the same cause so..Maybe it's just us?" She shrugs a bit at this, Being here so long has taught her a few thing, most of them were not good things.

"I haven't. The only thing I'm kinda used to is a sword....but I can learn! I won't let you down!" She looks determined as she says this, floating up a bit into the air. She wasn't as worried now, focusing on one thing now.

"Sanae! Are you alright?"

Cirno came charging across with worry. She knew how those penalties were and did not like seeing others get hit with it. She made her way over to her side and was trying to help steady her. "You gotta be careful about those penalties. They really hurt..."

Yuka frowned. "I have my doubts." Then she shook it off. There was no point in dwelling on it now.

"We should find someplace private to do that today then." She looked down at her hands, noting the lack of marking. "Once we actually vow, that is..."

[Jade is hardly happy about these penalties and what have you-- to her, this was just bullying.
Head of the School or not, she doesn't tolerate bullies.
She stomps right up to Day after the conclusion of the ceremony, hands on her hips and expression none too pleased.]

Excuse me Miss Day, but I think you're being very rude! It's not our fault we're here, and maybe if you were to be more specific on why you want us to do these things, maybe we wouldn't have this problem! And who cares if we lose against the other school, this should be fun and not a horrible competition! Failure shouldn't be something to be feared, it should be something to learn from! If you're gonna treat us all like dumb trash, maybe someone else should be the leader!

[A small growl is coming from her throat.]

[A raised eyebrow] It's not my fault you're here either miss Harley, and I want you to do these things because I want you to be successful. Simple as that.

[Another raised eyebrow, since Day's idea of things that should be fun didn't include being sent to different universes and becoming part of an endless combat cycle.]

And I suppose you think you could do better?

Battling is necessary for the system, I would dare you to stop and see what happened but I am not that cruel.

[Her eyes flashed serious for a moment.] Just trust me Golbez, it's necessary.

[witchofspace]

Successful at what? I don't even know what we're supposed to be fighting for!

[She didn't find it fun, either. But if they were here, it shouldn't be to suffer and be penalized.]

Of course not, I'm fourteen. But I think we're owed some serious explanations! Maybe if we actually know everything that's going on, we can all go home quicker!

You're fighting to go home. [Day might be impatient but she will explain herself] You've been brought here, I had nothing to do with it, to participate in the system of exaclan. If you participate, fight well, and work out how to unlock the way home everyone bar six sacrifices get to return.

Fighting is important, winning gets you raks, the more raks you get the more chance you have at going home.

Unless you don't want to go home, but I think your fellow students would have something to say about that.

You were here before, right? Can't you give us any information on how to unlock the way home?

[Jade is so done with cryptic game information. She had enough of it back home already.]

Why?

[ Just that one word, said in as blunt and disrespectful a tone as he can muster. ]

The system was set in place for a reason, of course it was, but that doesn't mean it's not an outdated system. There are better ways of handling things.

[also this mysterious medicine > the system]

And you just swallow them?

[Arthur cracks a smile at that]

Yes, we will. We need to plan first, of course, and it won't do us any good to attack right away, we need to bide our time. As much as I am against fighting females, there is a time and a place for anything. She must have a weakness.

Cirno blinked and looked down at the the glove on her hand, "Oh...Right. I forgot about that." She frowned at the blank thing for a moment before grinning up to Yuka once more, "I vow to protect and fight along side you with all of my strength! Also to give you all your rights as a Weapon by my side."

As she says all that, she bows a bit. It almost sounds like she had this rehearsed, or at least had this in her head for a while. Even though she liked being a Weapon, she did have some idea of being a decent player..even if she had not proved that fact yet.

Yuka smiled. "Then I'll join my strength to yours, and let us walk this path together." Was that affirmative enough for the system? She checked her hands again. Apparently it was.

Yuka smile grew wider. The whole situation with Day still chewed at her leaves, not to mention the other issues that had come up since she arrived here, but right now her heart was focused on one thing...

She was really looking forward to this!

After looking at her glove to make sure that the vow was with her and not someone else, Cirno's smile widened as well. She didn't trust the system right now and was glad it was cooperating with her at the moment. She was hopeful for this round now, trying to ignore the failures of the past. She threw her gloved fist up in the air with a happy laugh.

"Let's win this!"

I was. [At least she was asking questions now and not insulting Day. Day took another bite of apple] It is as we have said, find the stars, fight the demons and you will find the way home. You are doing alright so far, I guess.

[kingofpoisons]

[Day still looks very serious, not angry serious; more worried or sad. At least if you didn't know her and didn't know that she rarely wasted her time on such emotions.]

Have you not stopped to think about what happens if you fail.

That is not what I'm asking.

I'm asking what the exact purpose of doing battle with one another is. Are you attempting to tell us that our current goal of unsealing the four remaining towers is insufficient?

Right... If that means waiting for another round, I'm willing to wait.

For now, though, I can be your Weapon. I think you'll like it.

I am willing as well, one of us needs to be a Player to put this plan in action though. If it is plausible to do it this round, then we will.

[he nods once] I vow to protect you then.

You don't have any more hints on what the stars are or where the demons are?

[She'd file that away as 'extra important', though.]

If we all had more to go on, we could get this done even quicker.

"I'm... I'm fine." Well, she knew she would be, once she was able to wrap her head around what just happened. "Why is she punishing people like that...? It's not right." She wanted to march right up to Day and ask, but it had looked like a few others were doing that same thing. Maybe it wasn't the best idea...

"Because we can't seem to win very often..or when someone tries to hurt her. That one was really bad, especially after getting hit with two punishments. But maybe this round will be different!"

Cirno frowned as she glanced back to the stage but quickly swapped that with a smile when looking to Sanae. She didn't want to worry her with some of the stuff that had happened.

"Besides, you got lucky this round, Not being called as a Player. We usually get it the worst. Especially if your loss is to the other school."

She backed away once she was sure Sanae would be find standing on her own. She hid her glove behind her back, even though she knew her name was out in the open as a Player. She kinda hoped that Sanae would turn her down, giving her a chance to be with someone who would win.

"Now all you gotta do is find a Player to give you rights and to protect you. Being a Discard sucks. I'd ask you to vow with me but..I don't have the best history as a Player."
