Conquest round 12

When all the students were gathered for the assembly at twelve noon on Sunday of Round Twelve Day stepped forward her face stern. She was joined on the platform by Santana and her team of Prefects; Flynn Scifo, Cino, Suzaku Kururugi and Golbez. Conquest had two more prefects but they were both unconscious.

"Good morning." Those who had been in Rakuen long enough would know the warning of her tone. The lack of extra raks in their bags the day before would have told them that they had lost this last round, though those following the battle records carefully might be a little confused at that.

"I would like to remind all of you that though I wish for victory, victory can not be achieved without participation and last round it is in participation that you failed."

A ripple of pain went though the audience as the battle records went up. "There were no Conquest only battles, disappointing. How do you expect to improve when you do not practice." Pain rippled through the Players of last round.

"However Ein beat Dirk Strider, well done Ein, Aly beat Onozuka Komachi," no well done for Aly as she was no longer a member of the school, "And Isabela beat Dirk Strider, well done Isabela." Day's eyes narrowed, "America lost his battle." America would be hit with a penalty, not too strong though.

"But at least he fought... you lost the round because of lack of fights, something you will improve on next Round.

Her eyes glittered and she took a bite of apple. "You all know the price of failure but let me tell you the price of not fighting at all is worse."

With that Arthur Pendragon was hit by a full level penalty. Day glared at him the whole time, even if he had already been punished with a fine she had to make her point felt.

The punishment went on for five minutes, anyone who moved or spoke got hit.

When it was finally over she glared at the audience. "Turn it around in Round Twelve, go out there and win, but more importantly fight. Anyone who fights less than three times will regret it next week."

With that the names of the unlucky Players of Round Twelve came up.

"Golbez
Suzaku Kururugi
Samuel Henderson
Cirno
Arthur Pendragon
Stellaluna"

Jack was standing at the edge of the crowd, scowling as usual. His name wasn't up there this round, either. Talk about a pain in the ass. It was obvious to him that all these idiots didn't know how the fuck to win a fight, except maybe Aly and that Ein guy. Except now Aly was missing, so it was back down to one possible non-failure. Now what?

If he knew anyone's names, he'd probably go out and start sizing the round's players up. Since he didn't, he stuck to his spot at the edge of the assembly, keeping an eye out for anyone who looked like they might be a player. His gaze eventually met with Suzaku's.

He probably could've just walked over at that point, but fuck that. Jack continued to stand in his spot, giving the kid a bit of a challenging death-glare. Are you man enough to vow with this asshole?

Suzaku met the eyes of the glowling man before going over. It didn't look like he had a Player, unless he was a Player. The way he was glaring Suzaku did not doubt he would be up for fighting and finding a way out.

"Hello." Suzaku nodded politely.

"You looking for a Player, or a Weapon?"

Jack wasn't too big on smalltalk. He folded his arms, trying to look intimidating because... that would help his situation, maybe. He hoped this kid was a Player, that'd speed things up so much. The kid didn't look like much to him, but neither did most of the other students. Those who'd been around longer probably knew more than a thing or two about fighting, though, so who knows. Maybe he'd be surprised.

Anyway, the discard rules were stupid and the food was shit. Getting stuck with any Player at all was better than that.

"A Weapon." Suzaku looked at the man, a Weapon he knew as he knew all those who had been called as Players. The man's appearance didn't phase Suzaku at all, not much intimidated him anymore.

"Do you need a Player?" He had no mark on his hand, but he might have someone he wished to ask.
