Kotarou ([personal profile] tenwholeryou) wrote in [community profile] rakuen2011-01-23 12:32 am

dude he's like in a coma

Characters: Kotarou, visitors
Format: any
This log is: open
Location: one of the infirmary rooms.
Summary: After this battle, Kotarou is transferred to the infirmary to recover from his Exaclan-induced coma. This log covers the three days he's out, and his waking up after that. Depending on 'when' you visit, he might not respond, but feel free to mingle around the unconscious kid.
Warnings: moar trauma. Copious angst. Possibly people will get punched.
The room is small, one of the minor rooms set aside for students who aren't in the infirmary for a scraped knee or a cold. There are several metal chairs scattered around the room, as well as a single table and a curtain that can be pulled around the bed if need be. The bed itself swamps the boy lying in it, with white sheets and a faded green coverlet; a monitor is within reach on the bedside unit. It beeps every minute, on the dot, to let the nurse know his charge is still alive. Despite this and the drip in his arm, visitors are assured that he will wake up with no negative side-effects within a few days.

Huashi didn't trust the man Suzaku had called a nurse. Whatever that was. He'd said Kotarou would be fine, but Kotarou wasn't waking up, and if you didn't wake up really soon after becoming unoncious, you weren't fine!

The 'nurse' had pulled up a chair for her, but she was currently ignoring that to sit on the bed beside Kotarou, glaring at the beeping machine and with one eye towards the door. Depending who came through that door...

She wasn't actually certain what to do. She wanted to tear things, smash them with her bare hands, but the scratches she'd caused Suzaku had for the moment stilled the bloodrage. This was still all those adults' faults, and no one was getting close.

Except for that lying nurse, because apparently he was the only one who could ensure Kotarou was on the track of getting well. She sniffed and rubbed her face. She was not crying.

She wasn't going try cry. Crying didn't help anybody. Her eyes burned.

"Merciful Goddess... he'll be all right, won't he?" Huashi tilted her head back, hoping that'd chase back the burning in her eyes.

Kallen was preoccupied with avoiding people (ie. Gino, Suzaku) and didn't catch the entire fight. The school has been nice enough to broadcast the entire thing and she caught the end of it. The woman throwing the jewel, Suzaku dodging it, watching it shatter, and when Kotarou dropped to the ground screaming, that only meant one thing.

The crystallized rock was his weapon.

She dropped everything was doing in that moment and rushed over to the infirmary. It wasn't hard to find considering when she first met Sulu, she guided him here. But when she walked in, she didn't know what to say. But what could she say? Kallen saw the young boy laying there, not moving outside of the rise and fall of his chest, the beeping noise in the background to reassure the girl that he was alive. She knew this was too much. This boy was too young to be oppressed like this, to be forced to fight. Her, fine, subject her to this sort of world. But him, this young boy? He didn't deserve it. This boy didn't need to see the outcome of fighting, of war like she had.

This time, Kallen threw away her pride. What had she been fighting for back home if a young boy was forced to fight? Force to fight in a way where he would meet his end without even trying?

Just what had she almost died multiple times back home for?

The teenager wasn't going to leave. She didn't care about skipping classes. This boy, who now she wanted to protect with every fiber of her existence, was her top priority.

Maybe she'd leave to eat, but that was about it. She wasn't leaving. She knew he would probably get some visitors but she hoped to anything that the girl handling his weapon wouldn't come.

"Get. out." The snarl neared a growl as the shadow that had been lumped on the other side of Kotarou on the bed jumped off it and put itself between Kallen and Kotarou's bed.

The girl that appeared had, if one looked closely, slightly reddish eyes; the only proof she'd cried. Now, though, Huashi was glaring, teeth almost bared, hands fisted at her sides. She didn't know who this woman was, but she wasn't taking one step closer to Kotarou. Behind her, Huashi's tail was twitching jerkily.

"I'm not leaving. If you want to sit here and fight while Kotarou is unconscious, by all means, do it with yourself." Kallen stood her ground, looking over the other one closely. Figuring out who this girl... animal... uh talking animal that's not human thing.. was would have to come later. Kotarou was more important.

"So you can either move or take your saddened rage elsewhere."
swordofzero: Picture of Suzaku looking shocked (THAT'S NOT MEANT TO HAPPEN!)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2011-01-23 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Suzaku was sat outside the room; he had been here since they had given Kotarou over to the doctors. He didn't enter the room because he knew Huashi was in there, there was nothing he could do in there and Huashi hated him. She had good reason to, Suzaku hated himself pretty badly at the moment.

So he was sat on the floor outside with his knees curled up to his chest trembling. He had almost killed Kotarou... He should have refused to fight when Oichi was using someone so young as a weapon, he should have caught the amulet... he should have...

He was a monster... he wanted to go and check Kotarou was alright but he did not deserve to go in there... He didn't even look up when Kallen walked past, he half expected her to kick him; it would have been the least he deserved.

He stared blankly at the floor, and at his glove that had finally stopped flashing. It had flashed for ages, flashing Kotarou's name, as if mocking him.

He squeezed his eyes shut hoping that Kotarou was going to be all right.

Forget it. This whole ideal was just useless and Kotarou wasn't awake to call off his "guard dog" of sorts. Kallen would think later about how the academy let in other people that weren't strictly human. Not that there was anything wrong with that, but it wasn't something you saw everyday. This 'different worlds' theory was one she seriously had to look into a bit more.

She hadn't caught wind of Suzaku when she first entered, so considering she had almost tripped over him while leaving (whoops for the unintentional kick), she looked down.

"Oh. It's you." Again, no malice; just plainly stated.

"You have nothing here! Go away!" Huashi snarled and pushed Kallen. And it wasn't the strength of a barely-pubertal girl, but that of a man. She then jumped backwards and got up on the bed, crouched like, indeed, some sort of animal.

"Who do you think you are, barging in here, telling me to leave? He's MY friend!" Despite that Huashi was now fairly quivering with rage, her voice was low, controlled. A grating growl few would associate with a little girl.
queenscheckmate: we are young (pissed off; say that again)

[personal profile] queenscheckmate 2011-01-23 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Kallen almost fell over. She wasn't expecting that sort of strength and it didn't help that she had been out of training for two months. She leveled herself, standing up straight.

"Nothing here? I'm sorry, but do you think you're the only person Kotarou knows? There's a thing called 'paying one respects' to a person who has gotten injured or has fallen." Kallen voice carried a certain sort of rage she hadn't heard come from her in a long time.

"But if you're going to sit here and pick a fight with me, while Kotarou is unconscious, I can't tell you how disrespectful that is. Do you think he would be happy or okay with knowing that two people concerned about him are fighting right in front of him. Or are you okay with not respecting him at all? And considering your actions, I'm sure you're doing nothing here but disturbing him."
monkeystail: (sadface)

[personal profile] monkeystail 2011-01-23 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Huashi sniffed, something between a haughty nose in the air and an actual teary sniff.

"Just because you know him, doesn't mean you're his friend or he trusts you. He can tell me what he wants when he's awake, but now he isn't and you can't fix him," Huashi said with another quiet snarl, straightening out from her crouch and sitting down properly at the edge of the bed.

"You can't fix him." Huashi said again with a narrow stare, as if that explained everything. And besides, who was she to talk about respect! She'd barged in here. And who was it that lived with Kotarou? Not that woman, obviously.

Frustrated, Huashi rubbed at her eyes again. She wasn't going to cry. Not in front of someone like that.

[continued from this thread]

About half an hour after Kotarou is admitted to the infirmary, the two girls arrive. Sora is supporting Oichi as well as she can, but she's loathe to trigger the warning penalty's second stage, and so has to ration her touch. Much to her distress. One hand is tracing a constant, reassuring arc through the older girl's hair, just light enough that it doesn't alert the system beyond occasional twinges.

"He's in here," she says, once they've gone past several empty rooms and found the single door with a nameplate inserted into its frame. "Do you want me to come in with you?"

"And who left you to be the judge of that? Do I look like the type of person to attack someone while they're defenseless? I came here in after seeing what happened to him." Kallen crossed her arms against her chest. "I didn't say I came in here to fix him. But guess what, you can't either."

Kallen turned her back. "I'm not going to sit here and disrespect him by arguing with his supposed 'watch dog'. I'll be back and when I return, I won't let you stop me from seeing him. You can bet on that."

"I hope you feel better about yourself now." And back out the door she goes.

Huashi had no idea what she meant about Huashi feeling "better about herself now", but it doesn't matter, because at least she's left. And besides, it wasn't as if that woman couldn't see Kotarou from where she'd been standing.

Another sniff, and she rubbed away the treacherous tears. Adults were just stupid. Daddy wasn't, of course, and Wujing and Baije were all right, and Xuanzang... well, he was Xuanzang, so there wasn't much to think about that.

Kotarou wasn't still that woman's friend, so she could just stay away.

... Biting her lip, Huashi wished she remembered the only prayer Xuanzang had taught her. She couldn't even remember if it was good for a situation like this, but... Stupid adults, stupid game, stupid powers. Why were always powerful things so often unfair, and even moreso against those who had done nothing to deserve it?

"You... can do as you like," Oichi says slowly, swaying on her feet in what is her way. The pain from the warning hurts, but she isn't aware of what it means. She hasn't connected it with Sora's gentle, calming touches; and even if she were to, Ichi would think it worth the pain. Another person's warmth is something she can't get enough of, and this girl is so much like the sun.

On her way out Kallen did kick him, or trip over him but it was probably on purpose. Suzaku merely looked up at her still shocked and looking hollow.

"How is he?" It was a stupid question, unconcious was the answer and Suzaku leant his head back bashing it against the wall cursing his idiocy... his carelessness... his being there... well everything really.

She took a seat next to him on the floor as she idly apologized. The teenager pinched the bridge of her nose. "Unconscious, I guess. I didn't get to see him." Kallen sighed, defeated. "I just wanted to know how he was doing and what... thing... is in there, stopped me. I don't mean to be mean, but what exactly do you call a breed between a human and a monkey?"

In that case, she'll go in, of course. Sora will support her in any way she can, to every limit of her ability, and right now that means that this blank-eyed, despairing, beautiful woman has a knight companion for as long as she needs her.

The infirmary is more of a home to her than her own room, or her room here, for that matter. Yuki was here so often; one door down is where she had freed Reiko, beyond that was the room she'd woken up in after her defeat against Shoujou. There are a lot of mixed memories in this building, but at least there are still memories. With practise, she unlatches the door and slips in, with the door wide enough for both herself and Oichi without letting it open enough that the hinges creak.

"Excuse us-"

Suzaku looked at her, he hadn't realised she knew Kotarou but it was obvious she cared about him.

Suzaku wondered vagualy why she hadn't punched him yet.

"Her names Huashi..." He said dully closing his eyes again, he understood why Huashi wasn't allowing him anywhere near Kotarou but to stop Kallen? Why would she do that?

Silence answered Kallen, it took a while for what she had said to even register with Suzaku but when it did he turned to look at her, "It is... I shouldn't have..." He shook his head, "I should have..." There were so many things he should and shouldn't have done...

"I should have protected him..."

"You were in the middle of a fight and she threw something at you. It's only natural you'd dodge." Made sense right? After all, how did anyone know that the breaking of a weapon would do that? Well... depends on if you read the manual or not.

She hated using this world's terminology but... "How could you protect him? He... you were fighting against him. He wasn't your... 'weapon'." Objectifying the young boy like that was just wrong.

Huashi's head snapped up, but compared to Kallen's entry before, there's no immediate demand to get out. Mostly because Sora was actually polite. But the glare at Oichi was still full of anger.

"What's she doing here?!" Huashi demanded and jumped off the bed, landing between that and Sora and Oichi. Huashi stared at Ichi, who should have listened to Kotarou. He hadn't said he was ready yet! The urge to just tell them to get out was great, especially as Ichi was one of the two.

Most her words bounced off Suzaku, "It doesn't matter, I still should have protected him... he's only a child..."

What had Lelouch always, only those who are prepared to shoot should be shot at. This school seemed to work to the opposite ideal. "What kind of place... who would..."

"He's only a child..." He had to be alright...
queenscheckmate: we are young (a king and queen; with lelouch)

[personal profile] queenscheckmate 2011-01-23 01:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Don't worry about that. I'll do it. Lelouch is no child but you have your word to protect him as the Knight of Zero. I was his ace and I can't protect him after he betrayed me. So leave Kotarou to me. I will protect him and if I die doing so, then so be it." Her tone was serious. The one thing is that while they needed to go up against whoever was calling the shots, they needed to protect themselves from each other.
