rakuen | On the platform: Meet the new characters

Rakuen is warm in the noon sun, not humid enough to be uncomfortable but bright enough to make the transition from train to platform momentarily disorienting. The group greeting you is rather large, but also rather uneven - on one side, ten students in black and green; on the other, six in red and white. Whilst the green group are all fairly average, all teenagers other than the tiny, frail woman leading them, the red group are a tad more varied. One of their girls is tiny, the size of a small child, and her wings are beating patterns in the warm air. At the other side of the group, a warlike man looms over his comrades.

When they notice the arrivals, one out of each group steps forward. A young man wearing shades steps forward first.

"Excuse me." A second boy, a few years older and more serious looking steps forward from the red group. He explains that they're all prefects of Rakuen, from the two battle schools on the island. Fortitude - the boy in the sunglasses and the others dressed in green - and Conquest. They all arrived just like you did, weeks or months before this.

"I know you have many questions but first please come to the person who calls your name."

He looks down on his list to double check "For Conquest, Nanami Kiryuu, Hukaru Hitachiin, Madotsuki and Aria."

"If I call your name," the green-clad boy had stepped forward again, "it means you're with Fortitude, a.k.a the slightly more awesome school. Brittany Pierce, Jules de Ferrier, Izumi and Furiae."

"What are you talking about? I'm not getting 'shitty'." He makes a small 'hmph' noise.

"You are." Suzaku spoke again, "We're not your enemies and are willing to answer questions but you should be more polite."

"Well the only question I want answered is where is Kaoru, but you can't seem to answer even that much!" Hikaru really just wasn't used to the idea of being polite in cases like this.

"He's probably right where you left him, safe and sound," he told him. "Depending on what theory you prefer, he may not even know you're gone."

Suzaku nodded again, "If you wish, a few weeks ago we received a bottle to send a message home in. We only have the mayors word that it works, but I have no use for mine. If you wish you may send a message to your brother."

Strange thing to offer since he had just attacked him, but if it would calm him down...

Hikaru sighed, actually really relieved to hear that chances were that his brother is safe. But the thought of doing anything without his brother was actually a bit terrifying, and what was just as terrifying was that there was the possibility that Kaoru was without him and would have no idea where he had gone. It didn't happen too often thanks to his family's security, but getting kidnapped for ransom was still a possibility.

He was surprised though, to hear Suzaku offer him something like that. And then he felt a little bad for attacking the guy out of the blue, just because he seemed to be in charge. He stuck his hands in his pockets and looked away, pretending to be just as angry, even if he clearly wasn't. "That would work."

He nodded, since the situation seemed under control. "Suzaku has been here since the beginning with me. He knows how things work around here. I'm Dr. Sam Henderson, I work in Conquest's infirmary. The fights here don't cause real wounds, but if something else happens, I'd be glad to help you out."

Suzaku nodded, "We have both been here about three months now so you can ask us any questions you have. After I take you to your dorm I will get the bottle for you."

He nods, offering his hand, "I'm ..." What was his name? How was it that he couldn't remember it. He closes his eyes and raises a hand to his head as he bends over with a headache, "You take care of headaches?"

As soon as he asked, the headache started fading since he no longer was trying to remember his name.

Suzaku frowned, recognising the headache for what it was. "You will find you have memories missing, they can be bought back from the shop in the form of charms." He held out his arm which had his charm bracelet on it. "Trying to remember without a charm causes headaches."

"So this place kidnaps me from my brother, takes my memories, and makes me fight?" Hikaru is clearly not impressed, and while not attacking Suzaku again, he's clearly gotten most of that initial anger back.

Suzaku nodded, "Yes, but we will defeat it." He said that with certainty, he believed Lelouch would manage to bring it down. Lelouch usually did what he said he would even angry childish promises of crushing Britannia.

"Sounds like it's not something very likely." Hikaru is totally unimpressed. But then again, he was at least in part being difficult because his brother isn't here, and he isn't getting what he wants.

"We have fought against less likely odds." He said it matter of factually, understanding that Hikaru was just angry and confused.

"Whatever, it all sounds pretty dumb to me." Mostly because he didn't like it.

Suzaku just nodded, not wishing to argue with the angry kid. "You don't have to fight, at least not more than the system requires you to." He wasn't one for pulling innocents into helpless wars.

"So I have to fight," Hikaru quipped back.

"Not our fight, you have to battle but it can be done without injury. Hopefully you wont be a Player a lot." Suzaku met his eyes gravely.

"I wouldn't care if Kaoru was here."

"He may come he may not, but you may send a message to him regardless." Suzaku still thought it better he didn't come, the less people who got caught up in this the better.

Hikaru just makes an affirmative noise.

"Come on, I'll show you to your dorm."

Hikaru sighs and puts his hands in his pockets, getting ready to follow Suzaku.

Suzaku led the way stopping in at the prefect headquarters first to get the bottle. "There's instructions on it."

Hikaru took it, already finding the instructions.
