Summary: Tomoko has new shoes! .... New shoes that she can't tie. Cuteness happens.
Warnings:

Tomoko had been very pleased to get new shoes. After....after that nightmare, she wanted something easier to move around in, and her boots weren't doing it. So now she had cute, adorable pink sneakers- and a huge problem. No matter how much she tried- she couldn't remember how to tie her shoes. Or figure out on her own. She kept bunching the shoelaces together and yanking and moving them around in circles, and nothing happened. She couldn't get them to do work the way they should, no matter how hard she tried.

So she ended up just going out for a walk in the courtyard with her shoelaces completely untied. She had fallen twice on her way out, and she was being very careful not to fall again. She stopped to think for something else a moment though, and one foot went down on the other foot's shoelace. When she went to try and take another step, it ended with her on the ground.

"Maybe 'cause your shoelaces are untied?" Said Utena, the obvious-seeking missile. She pointed for emphasis.

Tomoko nodded a few times. "I know they're untied!" At this rate, people were going to end up thinking she was making some weird fashion statement.

"Oh...Do you...need help?" Utena fidgeted, afraid of saying the wrong thing. She'd figured out by now that there were people here from all different kinds of places. Maybe the place Tomoko came from had only velcro?

"Let me tie 'em, then," Lyra suggested, kneeling down. Thank goodness they were pink, instead of sky-colored.

Romeo smiled, he was glad she wasn't hurt from her fall. "They are untied!" He said in response to her claim that the shoes were all right, "You will trip again!" He wondered if maybe she didn't know how to tie her shoes and was embarrassed. "Do you need help tying them?" He gave another smile.

[uwah Tomoko-chan. Wait, why is she--

A PRINCESS IS IN TROUBLE. Thus within seconds Sora manages to slide between the falling Tomoko and the ground, so that the younger girl ends up sprawled over Sora's lap rather than the paving stones.]

That was close! Are you okay, Tomoko?

[ wha-- h-he just wants to help! ; 3; ]

...do you need any help? I mean. I just. That was kind of a nasty fall?

Once she recovers over the fact that Sora just did that, she nods at the older girl. Still on her lap]

I'm fine, thanks to you Himoto-san!

[Well....he....does look really nice :(]

I can get up on my own. [Her knees are a little scratched up, but she's okay for the most part.]

"If you don't mind..." Tomoko muttered, offering one of her feet to Lyra so she could tie her shoe for her.

[Once he's let go of her hand, she steps back quickly and folds her hands behind her back.]

I know they're untied.

Tomoko gave Romeo a weary smile in return to his smile. He seemed nice enough, but sometimes looks were deceiving. "I know they're untied." She fidgeted slightly. "I... don't remember how to tie them. I know how. I just can't."

"You'd help me?" Tomoko asked, still looking a little surprised. What a nice girl! "Um- yes, then. Help would be nice. I know how to tie them, I just..."

[He makes absolutely no attempt to close the distance between them, more than aware that she appears to find him intimidating.]

Was that one of your lost memories?

[The fact that he's staying away only makes her trust him more. So that's a good thing!]

Yes, I think so.

[It probably doesn't help that he's about 6'2" either.]

Shall I tie them for you?

"Just a moment then!" Lyra's fingers were a blur as she started tying the other girl's shoes.

Utena knelt and tied the shoes firmly. Perhaps a little too firmly, because she was concentrating so hard and didn't want them to fall off again.

"Maybe it's one of those things everyone seems to have forgotten. I forgot a lot of stuff...." She said from kneeling, being very careful to not look up her skirt like a true prince.

You really shouldn't walk around with untied shoes... [ HOVERING HOVERING HOVERING your poor knees, DO YOU NEED THE INFIRMARY. ]

Romeo nodded, he understood. It was like reading. He knew how to read but here he couldn't remember even one letter. "Oh! I can help you."

He knelt down in front of her and biting his tongue slightly in concentration he began to tie the first shoe. "You tie it in a knot, then make two bows and twist them round each other like this," he looked up at her to see if that had helped her remember.

Tomoko wasn't even concerned if Utena was going to look up her skirt or not. She was sure anyone with a smile like that could not be a bad person. Once Utena had tied her shoes, she clasped her hands together and offered a great big smile.

"I think so. At least everyone forgot somethings, I don't feel as silly. Thank you for helping me!"

[No, probably not. She's still so unsure about this, but she nods at him. ]

Um... Yes, that would be okay, I guess.

Tomoko looked down, watching him with complete concentration on what he was doing. She understood for a moment, but then just like that, it was gone again.

"Um... Okay." She might as well pretend she had figured it out. She didn't know what kind of boy he was, or if he'd have a temper figuring out that she forgot again already.
