[Sooner rather than later, Rafiel will enter the courtyard still dressed in his normal clothes. If only because the school uniform isn't very forgiving in regards to his wings.]

[What a coincidence, Edgar has also chosen to avoid the school uniform for now. He wasn't expecting a person with wings to show up -- an Esper? Or some other being entirely? -- but he takes it in stride.]

[Rafiel responds with a serene nod as he moves to a stop in front of Edgar.]

[... the word is not familiar with him? How unusual.] It is my world's term for anyone who is not laguz or branded. Did I assume wrongly?

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with those terms either. [pause. his "world"... that would explain a lot.]

[Rafiel doesn't seem unduly bothered by that, curiously enough.]

A laguz is one like myself. We are a race of beings who are able to shift into certain animal forms while beorc are... [he pauses] ... humans. A branded is a child born of both laguz and beorc.

...I see. I suppose that would make me a beorc then, yes. The world I'm from has only humans... and Espers, though they come from a different world.

I'm afraid the word human is used mostly in insult in my homeland... but if you would prefer it I can make the effort.

[We're not even going to get into how Rafiel should have more trust issues here, really. Without either Nailah or his empathy, he's just easy pickings.]
