Summary: Suzaku fails at attempts biology homework

Suzaku sat in the corner of the downstairs common room in the Black dorm building. Spread out in front of him was a couple of textbooks and a lot of paper. He frowned, he had never found biology easy but this! He hadn't even seen half of these plants before in his life and was starting to suspect they didn't even exist in his world.

Other worlds, the idea was terrifying when Suzaku stopped long enough to think about it, other worlds with other animals and other plants from what he knew. He blinked at the question again, he had no idea; he sighed heavily and read through the textbook again.

Suzaku smiled softly at Kotarou who was battling imaginary foes through the coridoors. Suzaku shrugged at the question, "You might, this place seems to pick who has to fight randomly." He studied the small boy for a moment, "Do you want to fight?"

"I guess it could be 'cool'," he stabbed at a plant pot, luckily missing it by miles, and returned to Suzaku's side to slash at the air a few more times. "I could fight. I bet I could beat that Lelouch man."

Suzaku nodded, he didn't like the fact that such a small boy had to fight at the whims of their kidnappers. He raised an eyebrow at Kotarou's words. Even though Lelouch wasn't the strongest fighter Suzaku doubted that Kotarou would be able to suceed in a fight.

"Lelouch's weapon is his mind," he told the kid, "He is always a few steps ahead of his opononent and so it is difficult to fight against him."

Kotarou looked distinctly sulky at this betrayal. "Doesn't matter if he can't fight."

Suzaku nodded with a small smile, he hadn't thought that Kotarou would understand. "But if you can work out what your oponent is going to do before they do it, then you wont be where they expect and you are more likely to win a fight." Tactics were not something Suzaku was good at but he understood how they could win battles.

"Even if you can work out what they're gonna do, doesn't mean you can stop them doing it."

Suzaku sighed and wondered how he had got into this conversation with an eight year old kid. "If you know far enough in advance you can stop them, lets say you set them up and made them think that your next attack was going to be a kick to their left, and they knew that to stop that they could punch your leg instead as you began to kick them but you knew that so you punched their right instead, they would have walked into your attack."

Of course large scale tactics were much more complicated then that but Suzaku didn't really understand them though, he doubted Kotarou would either.

Kotarou's face scrunched up again, more than before, and he tried to go through what Suzaku had said.

"So it's just tricking people."

He approved of that. Pity it was Lelouch they were talking about, because he'd never openly agree with that particular boy. Ever.

Suzaku tilted his head and gave a small smile that did not quite reach his eyes, "Pretty much."

He finished getting ready and started to the door before looking back at Kotarou, "Coming to lunch?"
