Drinking tea (Attn Shoryu)
Characters: Suzaku Kururugi and ShoryuSuzaku was the only one in the Black Halls common room, which wasn't surprising since everyone seemed to be doing homework elsewhere. But it was Japanese and Suzaku hated that class, the teacher had made him sit with those who were learning basic Japanese and there was no point because it didn't matter how much he tried he couldn't learn it. His head just filled with fuzziness and he couldn't even think properly. Every time he saw or heard a word he would forget it and the constant memory loss made him feel sick.
Format: Prose
This log is: Closed
Location: Black Dorm common room
Summary: On the evening of rest day Suzaku gets recruited for microwave fixing
Warnings:
So he didn't go, it was the only class he skipped and so he didn't have the homework and so was sat in the common room of his dorm building drinking a cup of tea. He was planning and going to train after this but for the moment he was enjoying the quiet.

"That would be a great help," he said, with a dip of his head that would have made his ministers faint. "If you are sure..." he waited for Suzaku's nod, "Then I'll protect and work with you for this round. For Enki's sake."

*brings in the princess*
And why did the Black Dorm smell of smoke?
... What was that idiot doing now?
Heaving a sigh, Enki trotted towards the smell and came upon the open door to the kitchenette. What was Shōryū doing in here, anyway? It wasn't as if the man could cook worth a spit! Enki saw Suzaku first and blinked. Had Shōryū managed to manipulate Suzaku into cooking something for him, or what?
"Suzaku, I hope you didn't let him trick you into cooking for him... The man's notoriously bad at saying 'thank you'. And Shōryū, what'd you do no---" And he blinked, feeling slightly dazed as he stared at the pony-tailed Shōryū behind Suzaku. That wasn't... Right. That was why it had been a ba---
Enki got no further as he slid down on his knees, but he managed to keep from a full prostration this time, locking his elbows as his palms met the floor.
How could anyone think this had been an appropriate memory to take?! He had better things to do than follow Shōryū around like a lost puppy to avoid this annoying and embarassing 'here, have a revelation each time you see your king because your kirin nature is flipping out at having that knowledge taken from you!'.
"If I didn't know you actually have done some of the work to get the kingdom where it is today, I'd be tempted to incite rebellion myself..." Enki grumbled as he finally managed to stand up, crossing his arms in annoyance.
Not that he could, even if he'd wanted to (which he didn't. All that trouble to get where they were, he would hardly be the one to undo it!). Shōryū was the King of En, and there simply was no other person more fit enough for that position. To the eternal grief and annoyance of everybody around him.
sorry, your sanity is in another kitchen!
It wasn't unwelcome news, but he knew the kirin's tendency to complain about him to any willing - or unwilling - ear. Some damage would inevitably have heen done.

From what Enki had told him earlier it had seemed like Shōryū was an adviser to the king, but now with Enki bowing, or half bowing, his annoyance and his words. You couldn't incite rebellion over someone not in power...
Suzaku stepped closer to Enki and away from Shōryū his eyes widening further. "You're Enki's king?"
It couldn't be, Enki's king had sounded awful and Shōryū had told him he didn't want to use Enki's weapon because Enki didn't like fighting... unless he was lying...
no subject
"He is, even if he tries to act like he ain't, more than half the time." Oh right, he hadn't actually told Suzaku... and Shōryū already knew, or half-knew, at any rate, considering he'd failed to keep his fool mouth shut earlier.
"One of the memories they've taken..." Enki gave Shōryū a stare from out of the corner of his eyes. If he actually said it out-loud, Shōryū would really know. But Suzaku would be confused about their earlier conversation if he didn't... With a long-suffering sigh and a decision that it surely couldn't be as bad as it seemed from here, Enki forged ahead.
"They took the memory of who I chose as King of En. It makes it very annoying now that he's here and he decides to disappear on me," Enki said and gave Shōryū yet another glare for good measure.
"Er, the whole forgetting thing makes me have the revelation each time I see him now, that he is the King." Enki wasn't sure Suzaku would understand what it meant, but...
And Shōryū, he noticed, had already changed into the uniform. Well, it didn't really surprise Enki, but no one would see him in that uniform for as long as he could help it.

"I'll ask someone to follow you around, perhaps," he opened the popcorn with a neat tear along the top of the bag, and went back over to the counter as though he wasn't being given a look of angry surprise from a teenage boy. "They could catch you before you fell."
And then Suzaku received his attention, and he nodded assent. "Yes, I'm... his king," he repeated the possessive a little whimsically, then turned back towards Enki. "What have you been saying about me, anyway?"
no subject
He had no idea what 'the revelation' was, and Suzaku followed the conversation slightly confused. If Shōryū was the king then he might make Enki fight, so it was a good thing Suzaku had agreed to be his weapon even if he didn't want to work with someone who would make someone who hated violence too much fight. But as Shōryū's weapon he might be able to convince him to use his weapon all the time and leave Enki alone.
Maybe, probably not, Shōryū was a king and king's did what they wanted most of the time. He stepped closer to Enki giving him a small smile.

"Hey, I didn't say anything but the usual. You are a lazy jerk, after all!" Enki rolled his eyes, but kept his voice lighter than usual and tossed Suzaku and slightly confused smile back, before he walked up to the counter and jumped up on it. It was a bit cramped due to the cupboards above, but hey. He'd make do. Especially since Shōryū was standing by it, and... well, he wasn't gonna admit it out loud, but yeah. Right now, his presence soothed more than usual.
"Why're you making popcorn, anyway?"
no subject
The objection was just as light; he was perfectly happy to run 'damage control' as far as Suzaku's opinion of them was concerned, if Enki wanted to try and climb back out of the hole he'd dug himself into. When the kirin was established on the side, he deposited the bag of popcorn into his lap with no particular explanation other than, "It was easier," and turned back to smile wryly at Suzaku.
"Thank you for looking after my... hm. Incorrigible kirin."
no subject
"Er, I didn't really look after him..." He looked at the two of them feeling awkward.

"We had a conversation... One of the books had a picture of a riboku." Enki then looked to Suzaku with a frown. "What did I say, back then? I mean, sure I couldn't remember it was this particular idiot I was talking about, but something must've jumped out." A pause to scratch his head with the hand not used to scoop up popcorn.
"He may be annoying, but he's hardly horrible."
And that was as close as he'd get within earshot of you, Shōryū, to compliment you. Kind of.

"You don't happen to know anyone else looking for a partner?"

After all, the last thing he wanted to do was get Enki into trouble. "He said nothing bad," he agreed with Enki with a small smile and then turned thoughtful as he thought about Shōryū's question.
"Some of my friends might, I don't know which of them will have found Player's already. I could ask around..."
He hadn't seen any of Sora's princesses on the player list so maybe she would need someone, then again she had a lot of friends so it was likely she knew most the players anyways.
Lelouch maybe, he would probably still need to find a player, and perhaps Euphemia, though Suzaku didn't want her to be used as a weapon.
He wondered vaguely why he was wondering which of his friends could also become weapons to this king when he knew that this king was not a nice person. But he supposed the more usable weapons Shōryū had the less chance Enki had of having to be used as a weapon.

Glacing at Shōryū, he knew he'd get no help from that direction, because he'd just take amusement from Suzaku's annoyance and anger.
no subject
He looked at Enki sidelong. The kirin would probably mistake his intentions deliberately, but five centuries was enough that he might work out that Shōryū intended to keep a low, friendly profile on campus until he knew enough to make an overt move.
no subject
He glanced back at Enki and then to Shōryū again, "So I guess you arrived this morning?" Unless he had been here as long as Enki and Enki just hadn't remembered, but surely Enki would have remembered if Shōryū was here even if he didn't remember that he was the king.
no subject
And that was just completely depressing. So he gave Shōryū a narrow stare back; he better at least try to come up with some other way to get out of this than fighting. There would be more than enough pain, anyway, and he didn't...
"He did, an' I had to stand in that lobby for ten minutes wondering why I'd just sprouted roots," Enki muttered, still unamused by that.

That was a long time, a long time to be away from your own world and Suzaku still did not understand everything but he remembered how confused he had been at first, and with this tournament going on and Shōryū being a player straight away it was probably best to give him all the information he needed.

Shaking his head and stifling the sigh, Enki looked over at Shōryū with a frown.
"Behave, you hear?" He only muttered it, keeping it intentionally quiet, but the kitchenette wasn't cavernous, so Suzaku might have heard anyway.
no subject
"Much obliged," his voice wasn't much louder than Enki's, but when he was walking past Suzaku, it didn't need to be, "I'm sure I can find you if I think of anything."

With a last annoyed stare at the now-empty doorway, Enki looked to Suzaku just as the memory-loss kicked in. Something twisted inside and for a moment, Enki felt a burning urge, need to run out and catch up with Shōryū to stop it, but then the reaction was gone and he was just confused over why he'd reacted so strongly to Shōryū leaving.
"Hey, you okay?" So, he concentrated on the teenager instead, who looked like he was worried he'd eaten something nasty. Almost absently, Enki took another handful of popcorn as he waited for Suzaku to collect himself enough to answer.
