Drinking tea (Attn Shoryu)
Characters: Suzaku Kururugi and ShoryuSuzaku was the only one in the Black Halls common room, which wasn't surprising since everyone seemed to be doing homework elsewhere. But it was Japanese and Suzaku hated that class, the teacher had made him sit with those who were learning basic Japanese and there was no point because it didn't matter how much he tried he couldn't learn it. His head just filled with fuzziness and he couldn't even think properly. Every time he saw or heard a word he would forget it and the constant memory loss made him feel sick.
Format: Prose
This log is: Closed
Location: Black Dorm common room
Summary: On the evening of rest day Suzaku gets recruited for microwave fixing
Warnings:
So he didn't go, it was the only class he skipped and so he didn't have the homework and so was sat in the common room of his dorm building drinking a cup of tea. He was planning and going to train after this but for the moment he was enjoying the quiet.

Shaking his head and stifling the sigh, Enki looked over at Shōryū with a frown.
"Behave, you hear?" He only muttered it, keeping it intentionally quiet, but the kitchenette wasn't cavernous, so Suzaku might have heard anyway.
no subject
"Much obliged," his voice wasn't much louder than Enki's, but when he was walking past Suzaku, it didn't need to be, "I'm sure I can find you if I think of anything."

With a last annoyed stare at the now-empty doorway, Enki looked to Suzaku just as the memory-loss kicked in. Something twisted inside and for a moment, Enki felt a burning urge, need to run out and catch up with Shōryū to stop it, but then the reaction was gone and he was just confused over why he'd reacted so strongly to Shōryū leaving.
"Hey, you okay?" So, he concentrated on the teenager instead, who looked like he was worried he'd eaten something nasty. Almost absently, Enki took another handful of popcorn as he waited for Suzaku to collect himself enough to answer.

"... That's just Shōryū... right?"
Something was wrong with that statement, because why was he so annoyed the man had traipsed off so soon after he managed to find him again? And, right, Shōryū was important but wasn't--- Wait. He so was---
And there went the memory-loss haze again.
"You were saying?" You'd have to excuse Enki if he sounded pissy, because while he can't exactly remember what it was Suzaku asked, he knew it was something rather... encompassing. Something about Shōryū and the king...
no subject
"It doesn't matter, you will just forget again. Are you alright?" The question was wieghted, hopefully even if he didn't know that Shōryū was the king he would be able to tell Suzaku if he was happy with Shōryū's presence here.

"Of course. I'm relieved it wasn't any of the other kirin that came here..." Enki paused and supressed a shiver at that thought. Sourin, or Taiki, here? Heaven forbid.
"Are you okay though? You looked kinda off before."
no subject
Now Suzaku was even more confused than before, "What would be wrong with the other Kirin being here?"
no subject
"What wouldn't be wrong? None of us should be here, but..." he paused to shake his head and turned around to face Suzaku again. "I mean, the kirin of Tai, Taiki; the poor kid was in Hourai... er, Japan, for longer than I was. He only just learned to shift and get a relationship with his nyokai... An' if he got here and couldn't do those 'kirin' things again?"
He was feeling deeply unsettled by the refusal of these things; he didn't want to know how a sensitive kid like Taiki would take it.
no subject
But the rest of the answer, shift? nyoki? What was Enki talking about? "Kirin things?"
no subject
"Er, sorry. I forget you don't know... Kirin are supposed to be able to tame youma... chaotic spirits, as their... uh... 'bodyguards' if you will. Taiki didn't know how to do that. Kirin can also shift between their human form and their actual form, which he didn't understand how to do either."
Enki paused and jumped up on the counter again, resting on his palms. Would Suzaku even get the right picture in his head if he tried to describe what he actually looked like?
"This ain't my real form. Being here, though, I can't shift for some reason," Enki hadn't meant to reveal it, but he could hear the strain in his voice as he said that.
Not being able to shift... it didn't hurt, not really, but something essential was being supressed.

Suzaku shook his head, he didn't understand at all but he understood the last bit, that here Enki couldn't change to his none human form. "Do you think it's one of the memories they took off you? How to change?"
That seemed a more productive question then, What do you mean your not human? or What is your true form then? or Chaotic spirits?
no subject
"No. I know how to, because it ain't a question of doing something in particular... it's like breathing, you know? When I want to, it just happens. It's just... here, nothing happens," Enki snapped, frustrated and tired of this. He'd been stolen of so much... At least there was still the ouki--- Eh?
There had been something... Ah well, he just knew that there was still something left. Like the fact that Shōryū had put his palm to his forehead and that had hurt.

"We will get out of here," he muttered, another reason to beat this place and escape.

"It feels like he's deliberately trying to annoy me by wandering off, but I can't come up with why that is..." Enki scowled at the open and empty doorway before walking up to it and pausing there.
"You haven't found anything yet at all?" He didn't think so considering Suzaku hadn't said anything but that he hoped they'd get home soon, but... it was better to ask.
no subject
"What's wrong?" He asked in response to Enki scowling at the doorframe.
no subject
"Probably nothing. Shōryū lives to annoy me anyway, and I do my best to do the same," he smirked back at Suzaku, pushing down the unease over the lack of solution that he couldn't understand, and ignored the faint spark of warmth that was pointing in one direction.
This was so annoying, being ill at ease over something he couldn't remember, and he wasn't sure about the spark. It reminded faintly of when he was looking for the king and followed the ouki, but---
Blink. A shrug.

"Thanks, Suzaku." Enki nodded and tossed a wave over his shoulder as he left, but he wasn't so far away Suzaku couldn't hear him muttering.
"How did he know I was going to look for a snack after I found him, anyway?"
no subject
The remains of his tea was cold, but he drank it anyone thinking. Either Shoryu was a really good actor or Enki had been lying, Suzaku could not imagine either senario. After all Shoryu had been nice before he knew Suzaku knew Enki and he could not imagine the Kirin lying.
But there wasn't a third explanation, feeling confused and miserable Suzaku made himself think of something else.
