rakuen | You have to prepare for a fight

Location: Dining hall (before, during, and after)
Summary: After training with Huashi and Kotarou, Kallen decides it's a good idea to eat. Although uh... she decides to pick up a sandwich and can't remember how to eat it.

It's just been a long... a very long day for Kallen. First, she was announced as a Player, then Gino almost damn near passed out on her, and for the finish, training with Huashi mainly so she could get used to the girl's weapon. Kallen had some time ahead of her so she wanted to be prepared. The next day she would spend some time watching some of the other fights.

Kallen looked up at the sky and the sun was fading into the background. She made the decision to head to the dining hall to grab something to eat. She made a mindless choice and picked up a sandwich. Sitting down at a near by table, she stared at her plate and at her food.

Just how was she supposed to eat this?

Kallen sighed as she looked at the food in front of her. This was one of her favorite foods. But did she seriously forget how to eat it?

At the end of her sigh, she kept her eyes on the table. Something was wrong with the situation and she didn't mean the sandwich. There was something following her. Kallen wouldn't say it was unnoticed cause she knew. She was just wondering why a child was stalking her. So she just ignored the girl.... until now.

"Are you just going to keep staring at me?" She questioned out loud, pushing away the sandwich. But it was pretty obviously who she was talking to.

Maybe someone should tell Mei to wear less pink the next time she went out stalking.

Would she keep staring at her? The answer was NO! She would not! Mei was a girl of ACTION! Which was demonstrated as part of the reply to Kallen's question. She disappeared from sight for a second before leaping right up onto the tabletop. WHOOSH and maybe some tense background music were the sound effects accompanying this confrontation. Uh. In her imagination, that is.

"I need to know! Why would Gino abandon his friends to be your Weapon? Are you blackmailing him?! If you are, you'd better be prepared for a real fight!"

...said the extremely tiny girl to the terrorist Knightmare pilot.

This is some joke right?

"And why would I be inclined to tell you anything?" Kallen said, looking at the girl. It was more of an annoyed glare than anything. It's been a really long day for Kallen and she just wanted to eat. Perhaps she should have added 'in peace'.

No joke. Mei was three hundred and eighty percent serious.

She leveled an accusing finger at Kallen. "Because if you won't answer my question, you must be hiding something sinister!" Ooor the other girl just didn't want to get bossed around by a loudmouthed brat, but that thought hadn't even factored into any of Mei's bazillion scenarios.

Eye roll. "Look, I don't know who you are but I'd like to eat my dinner in peace. Not having wild accusations while thrown in my face."

Ignoring the child, Kallen continued to look at her food, trying to consider how to tackle this great feat.

Ignored? Ignored! Mei Chang had an issue with being ignored. She walked across the table and plopped down to sit directly in front of Kallen, leaving only enough room between them for the sandwich to remain happily unsquished. Tiny child invading space technique was go.

"I am Mei Chang, Seventeenth Princess of the Empire, and they wouldn't be wild if you would just answer the question."

There. That covered the 'who you are' query, right? Yeah. She seriously needed to start making sure 'Xing' was somewhere next to 'Empire' in those kind of statements, but everyone so far had failed to mention the handful of similarities to a totally different empire.

FACEPALM

The title didn't mean anything to Kallen, but this little girl was serious it seemed. "For starters, it's not exactly polite to sit on a table when someone is trying to eat. And if you're acting civil and stop acting like this is an interrogation, I'd be more inclined to answer you."

The title usually got some sort of reaction! Alright. Mei could see this Kallen chick was a tough cookie. Clearly not one to be intimidated. The lack of intimidation couldn't possibly have anything to do with the kid being about as intimidating as a flea. Really. She means it.

Mei glared a bit, then grumbled and hopped back up to her feet. She walked back to the other side, stepped down onto a seat, and whirled back around. She sat. THERE.

"I am sorry to bother you," the girl deadpanned, "But I would like to know why Gino picked you over Grenn."

"If you were really sorry about bothering me, you wouldn't have been stalking me." Kallen sighed again and turned in the girl direction. "I can't give an answer for that. Gino sought me out after the announcement."

"You could tell?!" Mei looked down, a hand going to her chin as she asided. Except it wasn't an aside at all, because there was no audience and, well, Kallen could hear it. "...she must be a ninja..."

She looked up again. "What! He did?!"

"I'm not a ninja. I used be 'military trained'." Meaning, she can see and know you're there for like 10 miles away.

"Yes, he did."

"You're a soldier?"

Wait, that would be a tangent for another time. Mei's expression falls into misery at the revelation of Gino's 'betrayal'. "B-but... me, Gino, and Grenn are supposed to be a team."

"I was." But this place was slowly turning her into one. And Kallen shrugged at Mei's next line. That had nothing to do with her. "Get used to disappointment." It sounded harsher than it was intended.

"W-what.." Get used to disappointment, huh? "...oh."

And that was that. Mei fell silent and stared down at the floor under the table.

"I can't say or make excuses for Gino. But if you think I tricked him or anything like that, it's not the truth."

"Yeah. I'm sorry..." The kid sounded like she meant it this time. So if she wanted answers, she needed to hunt down the knight. Mei slid down off her seat and turned to go, muttering as she did. "...he'd better have a good excuse..."

Angry child has been redirected towards Gino. That'll be one heck of a sight to behold.

"It's all right." Kallen half was interested as to why this girl was interested in Gino anyway. But she figured it wasn't her place to ask so she didn't.
