Courtyard [somewhere!] Intro

Disorientation wasn't really something new to Nunnally, though the introduction video had been very informative and clear on what was going on. Why it was going on was another matter entirely, and she was just a little confused and worried. What... was she going to do now? There was no one around that she knew, even if she's seen some familiar names on the player list, or so she thought. Actually, at the moment, there wasn't a soul in sight at all, and it was slightly off putting, after the very cheery video.

...it didn't help much that most entrances to the buildings had stairs, so she was pretty much stuck outside. Sitting in a wheelchair was never convenient.

"Oh... what should I do now? I don't even know where to go."

Her distress was obvious when he got closer. He closed the gap and reached for her hands. "Nunnally, what is it?" he pressed. If Euphemia was here, then it was not altogether surprising that Nunnally could be too.

"I'm here, Nunnally," he told her. He reached out with a comforting hand and ran it over her hair at the side of her head, bringing it to a rest on her shoulder. "I'm really here." He pulled her hand to his chest, so she could feel his beating heart. A dramatic gesture, yes, but this is Lelouch we're talking about.

Had she thought he'd died in the explosion as well? If she was this upset, there was no doubt she'd remembered it. How cruel of this place. To take away other memories, but to leave one that upset Nunnally this much.

"And we're here together, aren't we?" he told her. "Just like at Ashford. We don't have to worry about the war anymore. It's just you and I again." He reached up to brush some of her hair aside. "Now the whole world gets to enjoy those beautiful eyes of yours."

He stopped talking then, and just held her, to let her get her emotions out. He wasn't sure why this was so upsetting to her, but as for himself, he reveled in being able to hold her close again. To know that she was alive and well was a great gift that this place had given him. It did not lessen his hatred for it, however.

This just wasn't making sense. He couldn't attribute her heartbreak to any particular event. She'd died that day in Tokyo. Or had she? Had Schneizel gotten her out in time? He was certainly capable. But then what had happened? Was it the death of the Emperor? Had she still held love for the man? It would be heard for him to imagine using such an emotion for the man, but with Nunnally, it was possible.

Or had it been something involving him? Somewhere in the memories taken from him laid the answer. This would explain the behavior of some of the others as well. This opened up a wealth of possibilities. It was clear a decision he had made had broken her like this, and for her to be this hurt, there were limited possibilities. But one had been most likely. He'd sacrificed himself.

"Everything I have done," he started, his voice quiet, but unwavering. "Has been with the final goal of creating a beautiful, peaceful world for you, and everyone else we love."

"You deserved better than what we had. We both did," he insisted. Of this, he would not be dissuaded.
