Summary: In a flash of lightning and the deafening roll of thunder, the power goes out across Utopia Academy.

It's early in the morning when it happens, about six o'clock. The clouds were gathering gradually through the night, the rain only getting heavier from the near-constant downpour during the previous week. Lightning crackles across the sky, the water around the academy is violent and the waves are high. And in a particularly loud clap of thunder, what lights were still on go out and the academy is plunged into darkness.

"You'd really think that'd work?" she said reluctantly, following after him. Old habits died hard... real hard.

"They're not going to let us leave."

"They don't have the capability to stop us. We have to do this now before the backup power comes back." He continued on his planned path now that Kallen was behind him. He was headed for Nunnally's room next.

"You honestly think they wouldn't have prepared for something like this? They're not going to let us leave, not that easily. I already tried." So much for washing her face. She might as well have taken a shower outside.

"You tried?" He was annoyed that she hadn't told him, but he wondered at the method. "How?"

Times aren't like before. She doesn't exactly have to report to you, Lelouch.

"The train tracks. Meryl and I kept walking until we were metaphorically hit by a train and then were sent back to where we started."

"Metaphorically?" he asked, as he continued toward Nunnally's room.

"The wind as if it was passing in front of us... or through us."

[veepofchess]

He nodded. "We're trying the harbor. Yes, it's dangerous, but this is the best chance we've had."
