Summary: In a flash of lightning and the deafening roll of thunder, the power goes out across Utopia Academy.

It's early in the morning when it happens, about six o'clock. The clouds were gathering gradually through the night, the rain only getting heavier from the near-constant downpour during the previous week. Lightning crackles across the sky, the water around the academy is violent and the waves are high. And in a particularly loud clap of thunder, what lights were still on go out and the academy is plunged into darkness.

Suzaku woke up to a loud clap of thunder. Blinking he rolled out of bed and looked around, somehow two of his roommates were still asleep. Kotarou was nowhere to be seen, Suzaku hoped he was with Huashi and somewhere dry.

A faint knock made Suzaku pad over to the door, it was pitch black and he tried the lights to realise they had gone off. He opened the door a small amount, "Who is it?"

"Suzaku, come out here," he told him. His voice was quiet so as to not catch the ears of Suzaku's sleeping roommates. He stepped back to allow the space for him to do so.

It was Lelouch, silently Suzaku opened the door the whole way and stepped out into the coridoor. "What's wrong?"

"The power is out to the entire island. We're using this opportunity to try to leave. I need you to find Lloyd and meet the rest of us at the harbor. Try not to arouse suspicion," he told him quickly and quietly. He didn't want to have to deal with extra hangers-on.

They were going to try and escape? "Are you sure that's a good idea?" He sounded worried but he had already slipped back inside, leaving the door open enough to be able to hear Lelouch while he threw on his clothes. "The harbour? We're going by boat?"

By this point he was back at the door, dressed and ready.

"The seas around the island are very rough, but it's a chance we'll have to take. We can't count on having another opportunity with the power out again." Well, if he knew how the power had gone down, he may revise that statement.

Suzaku frowned for a moment, it still seemed like a dangerous idea, but since Lelouch had thought of it he was bound to have looked at all possibilities. Suzaku nodded; not that Lelouch would see in the darkness. He raised his fist to his chest, another pointless action in the dark.

"Yes my Lord," he left Lelouch and went to find Lloyd.
