Summary: In a flash of lightning and the deafening roll of thunder, the power goes out across Utopia Academy.

It's early in the morning when it happens, about six o'clock. The clouds were gathering gradually through the night, the rain only getting heavier from the near-constant downpour during the previous week. Lightning crackles across the sky, the water around the academy is violent and the waves are high. And in a particularly loud clap of thunder, what lights were still on go out and the academy is plunged into darkness.

"Enki," it wasn't entirely clear why Gaara had left the White building, even to himself. The flickering of a fire in one of the windows, maybe, or just restlessness caused by the storm. Whatever the reason, he had come to visit Enki's room on a gut feeling, and stood in the doorway watching the kirin perched on the windowsill with a forehead slightly wrinkled with worry.

"Is something wrong?"

If Enki had been expecting someone (else), he wasn't even aware of that himself, despite the faint flicker of confusion, not really visible in the gloom, on his face as he twitched and turned half-around to be able to look at Gaara.

"Eh? Not... exactly?" Enki grimaced at himself, hearing the question. That wouldn't make the red-head not question further, but two weeks without having flown once? Without being able to just change? There was tension crawling beneath his skin and along with that other worry he couldn't precisely recall right now, keeping his head about himself was getting hard.

"... What're you doing over here, anyway?" Because why had Gaara wandered over here in the early morning (not extremely early anymore, Enki'd been sitting here for a while), with that storm still going strong?
