Confusion (Open)

Dahlia was confused.

Now that she was a "Player" she was able to use the booths, so she'd gone and bought two Memory Charms in hopes of regaining some of what she'd lost. But now here she was, sitting on a bench in the courtyard, wearing both charms... and nothing had changed. She shook her wrist in frustration, as though that would fix anything... Naturally, it didn't.

Someone bother her.

She looks up at him, her face a perfect mixture of confusion and worry. "I... I bought these Memory Charms in hopes of getting some of my memories back," she said, holding up her hand. "But nothing seems to happen when I put them on."

[kings_thief]

Locke gave her a look of sympathy, Edgar's words running through his memory.
"I'm sorry, but those memory charms only work if you give them to your weapons or if your player gives them to you. No one explained that to you?"

[traces]

"...no. I didn't have a Player last week, so..." Her face fell. "That's... it didn't even warn me when I bought them..."

[kings_thief]

"No, I'm sure it didn't. The thing probly assumes that if you're buying it, you know how it works. Anyway, it's not the end of the world; hold onto it until you find someone you think should have it."

[traces]

She nodded, slipped the bracelet off of her wrist and stuck it in a pocket. Then she looked downward and sighed.

"Thank you... You're so kind for explaining."

[kings_thief]

"I know how you feel, if I remember correctly, we arrived at the same time." How could he forget so much pink? "The things around here can get confusing quickly."

[traces]

Oh, he had been on the train with her, hadn't he? "Yes... You're so right." She nodded again.

"My name is Dahlia," she said with a slight smile. She did so wish she could use a pseudonym, but the school itself seemed to know who she was. No one had reacted to seeing her name on the screen that morning, so it seemed it would be okay... "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."

[kings_thief]

Locke grinned and offered his hand for her to shake. "Nice to meet you too, Dahlia, My name's Locke. So, you're a player this round? Guess that means you'll have to fight." He was still glad he had been a player the week fighting wasn't necessary.

[traces]

She held her hand out to shake his, but pulled back with a flinch at his comment. She shook her head and turned her face downward. "I--I don't know what I'm going to do... I don't want to hurt anybody."

[kings_thief]

He looked away as well, pulling away. "Yeah, I know what you mean. Monsters and bad guys are one thing but people in the same boat as you is completely different. I don't really want to fight either."

[traces]

"Is it the only way to earn more money?" she asked. "It's so horrible how they've taken our memories away from us. If there's any other way to get them back..."

[kings_thief]

"As far as I know, it is. They figure if you want your memories back, you'll fight for them." Not that he approved.

[traces]

She suppressed a sniffle. It just wasn't fair... "I can't fight... I-I can't stand hurting people. This is horrid..."

[kings_thief]

Locke looked away, thinking. Well...you want your memories back, right? You can't get them back unless you're a weapon of a player and the player gives you one. Nothing says you have to fight this round."

He couldn't see why she couldn't just wait till the next round.

"Although...even if you don't fight, It's possible others will still challenge you."

[traces]

"That's true..." But if she didn't fight, what if something happened? That was worrying her.

"Do... do I have to accept if they challenge me?"

[kings_thief]

"Umm..." Man, where was Edgar or Montblanc when he needed them? They knew more about this than he did.

"Since the whole things got some form of magic attached to it, my first thought is 'no' but I could be wrong?"
At least he could hope he was wrong.

[traces]

"Magic?" She tilted her head. "I don't mean to be rude, not at all, but... magic doesn't exist."

[kings_thief]

"What? You're joking right?" Well, he'd had that stand point once too, but it was still a strange thing to hear. "Of course it exists...it doesn't in your world?"

[traces]

"In my world?" Well, that confused her. There were only two worlds she knew of: the physical world and the spirit world. But most people weren't aware of the latter, so she played dumb. "It... doesn't, no..."

[kings_thief]

"Huh, weird." He supposed it could have died out like it had in his.

"Well, either way, if you're so worried about it, I don't mind sticking around and helping you out, if you'd like."

[traces]

"Really? You'd do that for little old me?" She smiled slightly. "I... I'd be ever so grateful, Mr. Locke. It would be such a big help."

"Sure, no problem. It's sorta my policy to help out a lady in need."
