Oh, certainly. Although there is a fair bit of history in that one, too.

Just so I know where to begin my explanation, can you tell me a little more about music in your world?

[ergaleomancer]

I wouldn't know where to begin, really, though I suppose... If you know about Her Majesty but not about ergaleomancy, perhaps we can assume the break in our timelines occurred some time around then? There's classical music, of course, orchestral, suchlike...

Then there's lyrical music, that is to say, songs that are intended to tell a story, usually with instrumental backing that helps with the dramatic nature of the tale...

And there's chap-hop, a miserable concoction of the lower classes... [[That Theta quiet enjoys listening to despite its impropriety, despite how she tries to play up her disapproval of it, probably too hard to be entirely believable.]]

In the latter half of the twentieth century, there came into being a fascinating genre called rock'n'roll, populated by a myriad of distinct groups each producing their own unique developments on the theme. Also considered by some to be a miserable concoction, but I am extremely fond of it.

'Rock'n'roll'? That...is quite the name, at least, it isn't particularly descriptive, though. What instruments does it favour?

Well... Honestly I couldn't imagine that... I spend far too much time concerned about science to have an interest in music, but... Perhaps it will be worth looking into~.

[[Oh now this is rich. Theta doesn't know if she should correct him or laugh and play along. Finally, she decides to settle in the middle.]]

[[She gives him a rather playful pout, but then continues on to her next guess.]]

Were your parents fans?

Ah. And now we come back to that long explanation I was avoiding earlier.

I did not, strictly speaking, have parents, nor did I have a name until I chose one for myself. Borrowing this one seemed appropriate. I like to think I've rather made it my own.

[[She actually takes that quite well, and doesn't particularly see fit to question it. Assumptions again, she's surprised to find out he's not upper class, but instead adjusts her thoughts of him to suppose he's come from a workhouse background. Which isn't terribly a bad thing, as long as he can keep up mentally. Now, if they'd met under different circumstances, she supposes she would have been rather nasty to him if she'd thought that of his background. However, he's obviously been given a scholarship to this school, so that says volumes about him. In fact, the fact that he's intelligent and hypothetically from a workhouse background just goes to prove one of her own theories, that is, that the lower classes really are capable of improving their lot if they dedicate themselves to it.]]
