Kallen's awake. The morning routine of getting up and ready for school. A book rested in her hand and pages laced in between her fingers. Her free hand reached for a french toast stick. She's not a big fan of cereal. Can't eat and study at the same time.

Actually, Kallen's hoping that this day will be like the ones before. Before she arrived here and before things went sour. She hoped that someone will come to bother her like he usually does. Although it's been a while. She hadn't been spending time at the dorm and generally avoiding a certain tall and blond male.

"Yo, Kallen." Speak of the devil, and, well. All the rest. "How's that pacifism thing working out for you?"

Like clockwork. She promptly ignored Gino's question and put down her book. "I wanted to apologize."

[trollofthree]

And isn't that a surprise. He has the sneaking suspicion that he should have expected it, but the majority of their conversations thus far have been obscured in an amnesia-induced haze. "... What for?"

"For... the whole memories thing." Her words were said quietly, but carried all the sincerity in the world.

[trollofthree]

"Apology accepted!" His reply is given a bit too early, with an easy shrug, but he appreciates it anyway, "Just make you you tell me again when I remember why, okay?"

"What?" She honestly looked up at the male in confusion.

[trollofthree]

He tapped the side of his head. "I want to remember that apology later. Ammunition and all." And then, because the conversation wasn't allowed to be serious, by order of Gino, "Maybe you should write it down. I'll have it framed."

"You'll remember it, so there will be no need for me to say it again and I'm not writing it down. You'll just rub it in my face later."

"I'll do that anyway," he pointed out, and decided it was probably safe to sit at her table by this point. So, of course, he did. And then snagged her book, for added security.

Eye roll, Gino. "Is there a reason why you're holding my book captive now or is that just the Britianian in you?" She was joking... kind of.

[trollofthree]

"It's in English," he waved it at her cheerfully, "That makes it a Britannian citizen. This is a liberation effort."

[queenscheckmate]

Cue facepalm. "Do you even know what the title of the book says?"

[trollofthree]

He flipped it the right way up, and took another, longer look at the cover. "Seibei and the Gourd. A Japanese book? What's it about?"

[queenscheckmate]

"You have the book in your hand, you tell me."

[trollofthree]

"That's not fair," he grinned, but opened the book and scanned the pages anyway. "Is it about an unfriendly pilot who won't give a guy a straight answer, by any chance?"

[queenscheckmate]

"No, it's about a tall, blond, and blue eyed Britannian male who tries to make 'liberation efforts' in order to talk to a girl, who happens to be his roommate in a foreign land, unknown to both of them. And if it's all the same to you, Gino, I'd like the book back. I won't read it while you're here if that's what you're worried about."

"You sure? I don't think this Britannian male can compete with a book about gourds." He handed it back, though.

[queenscheckmate]

Kallen took the book from him and placed it on the table. "Who said it was about you?"

[trollofthree]

"Ouch." He laughed, and leaned against the table, one hand lifting in surrender. She could have that one, but he reserved the right to change the subject.

"So, Kallen. How've you been, anyway?"

[queenscheckmate]

She smiled back at him. But soon that smile faded.

"I've been okay, I guess. Just finding out some information... Tried to leave and that didn't work out so well."

[trollofthree]

"Yeah?" He straightened slightly, his own grin falling just after hers. He hadn't tried to leave yet, but that was mainly because they were being held in an unknown foreign world and he wasn't willing to face the paperwork it would take to explain how he'd even managed that to Beatrix later.

Let alone how they were in another world to start with. "What did you try?"

"The tracks. We followed them back. But then... something strange happened. We heard the whistle of the tram come closer and closer, but there was no train car, no nothing. We blinked and we were back where we started."

Gino blinked. Blinked and gave her the benefit of the doubt. "You sure someone didn't just knock you out?"

"It takes a lot to knock me out, you know that. And besides like I said, it wasn't just me."
