3rd Hour - Open Network, Video

[The video clicks on to the slightly troubled face of a young butler(-in-training) on his second week here. He's not quite looking at the camera, obviously thinking about something and how to talk about it. As always, his tie is a mess.]

Has anyone else here had the experience of meeting someone who you recognize, but doesn't recognize you? I don't mean they've forgotten because of the memories, either. Rather... they remember someone who isn't you. Or even an entirely different world.

It might seem like a case of mistaken identity on your part, but their name is the same, habits, how they speak and act... and the person who is not you that they remember also bears a number of resemblances to yourself. Like some kind if parallel world, some things are different but enough is the same to seem familiar.

It's a little unsettling.

Did they? I hadn't heard of that. That puts an entirely new spin on the game.

They did, our headmistresses, the head prefect and the mayor were all part of that group. Apparently they stayed behind as some sort of sacrifice.

Interesting... where did you hear about this from?

Nanime the head prefect of Fortitude. She told us that they had played the game like us, but the others had 'ascended' whatever that means.

...I can't tell if that's a good thing or not.

I am not sure. But the way she spoke it sounded like a good thing, as if ascending led to going home.

I see. Well, it's something to shoot for, I suppose?

It is worth trying, it seems like the safest option. Many people here aren't fighters. [And keeping them all safe in a full out fight would be difficult.]

That's certainly true. Considering the kind of system this is, no doubt a rebellion would be met violently, even if just within the limits of Exaclan. I've already met several who would rather not fight.

Exactly, there are those who cannot fight, and some very young children as well. There safety must be considered.

I suppose doing our best in this game is the best choice then. Hopefully the ending is worth it.

Well, then the best of luck to all of us, then. I hope we don't have to cross blades... or would you rather we did? Since I'm willing, and it'd be better if those of us who were did the fighting than those who would rather not?

If you wish to fight then I would rather we fought than force those who can not or do not wish to fight to.

So it would seem. I have no real desire to fight, but I would rather do it than it be forced on those who are unwilling or unable.

[Suzaku agreed.] Sometimes you have to do what is necessary, in order for the final goal to be reached. However much you hate the method.
