This log is: open!! (Library and Computer room to Fortitude, Lake to all)
Location: Various: Library, Lake, Computer room
Summary: Daenerys is exploring the grounds! Come hang out with a Queen.
Warnings: None yet
Fortitude Library
Daenerys walks slowly around the room, letting her fingertips brush lightly against the spines of the neatly lined up books. It has been too long since she last saw a library of this size, not that she has anything against how the Dothraki live. There is something nice about the civility of a library though. She takes out a book, one at random, and flips through the pages, it was in the common tongue. But something startles her and she drops the book.

"Oh!" she looks at the book, "Am I not allowed to be in here?"

Lake
The water is calming, she thinks as she sits on the dock with her toes in the water. She can't help but think of home, of whether the Dothraki would cross this water or what they would think of this place. She chuckles to herself a bit, they would not like it here. This place is like nothing she has ever seen before, the technology is amazing and baffling all at once.

It's cold, both the air and the water, but Daenerys isn't bothered by that (which is only partly true, she is used to the warm weather but the cold is a new experience that she enjoys), but she decides to go swimming nonetheless. Join and/or scold her?

Fortitude Computer room
She's amazed. This technology, what is it? How is it used? It's like nothing she's ever seen before or even imagined. Daenerys sits in front of a computer, poking at the screen. It doesn't do anything. She looks at the mouse and keyboard and takes a moment to shake the mouse, waking up the screen. This shocks her, she looks around for someone to share her surprise with.

"What is this magical box!"

[ Dahlia has come by to type something up for one of her classes, and pauses when she notices an unfamiliar woman acting like an idiot child near one of the computers. ]

It's a computer, madam.

[ Oh, Dahlia would never. She's all sweetness and bubbles! ]

It's a machine, madam, that people use for correspondence and entertainment. They're quite common...

...I suppose...

[ She approaches the computer, and gestures toward the screen. ] This is the monitor. It's what you use to see what the computer is doing. These little pictures on the screen are called icons, and they represent different programs.

They're the things the computer can do. For example, this one lets you connect to the Exaclan network and talk to people. And this is a word processor, which lets you write things -- messages or stories or essays, whatever you would use it for.

That's right! If you press a key with a letter or number on it, it will make that same symbol appear on the screen. [ She says it as though she's talking to a child. ] It's simple once you've got the hang of it.

I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean... [ She blushes, drawing back. ]

Day-nerris? What a beautiful name.

I-I won't do it again... I'm sorry. [ Gawd. ]

Oh! My name is Dahlia. I'm very sorry for my impoliteness.

Thank you very much! I'm from California. Computers are very common there. We use them all the time at my school.

How fascinating... I hear that people are brought to this city from different universes, but I don't think I'll ever get used to it.

Nobody quite knows... Whether magic or technology, it's nothing I've ever seen, either.

No, we don't... Whoever is responsible hasn't said a word.
