On the platform: Meet the new characters!

As you all crowd onto the platform and peer through the thick fog that chills the air, you are met by four girls and five boys. One of the girls is a somewhat humanoid grey-skinned, finned alien, but the rest all seem human. All nine are in uniforms that would match if not for the colour differences - skirts and trousers, waistcoats, and light summer shirts that seem totally inappropriate for the dense fog. They're all sodden and cold, and most are irritable. Each has a beret with a crest pinned to the front - three depicting a shield on green, the other six a sword on red.

At the first lull in the chatter, one sickly-pale, shield-crested girl speaks up, cutting through your conversations with her cold, soft voice.

"Attention, please."

She explains that the nine of them are the current prefects of Rakuen, representing the two schools on the island. Nanami, she points to herself, Yuri and Lelouch of Fortitude; and Santana, Flynn, Feferi, Gino, Nephenee and Kevin of Conquest. She doesn't care to explain why the prefects in red and white outnumber those in green and black two to one.

Santana interrupts, "Yeah, yeah. Look, come over when your name is called so we can all get inside." They all move to stand in two groups some distance away from each other, and the two that spoke read off names from their clipboards.

[Soubi is just so not in the mood for this entire thing. He had already chain smoked his way through three cigs. His shit was buttoned up tight around his neck. Soubi had no idea why he had bandages there and he'd rather find out on his own time away from these eyes. In the mean time he went to stand next to the one who called his name, still smoking.]

[Oh, so that's what this cloud of bad smelling odors is. Yuri, rather unabashedly trying to wave the smoke clear of his face, glances at Soubi with a raised eyebrow.]

Hey, you mind slowing down a bit for the rest of us?

Well, he hadn't meant to make anyone sick. Though he didn't really care either. But if it was bothersome enough to make someone speak to him, Soubi would stop. He dropped the cig down to the ground, smashing it out. He breathed the rest of the smoke out through his nose so it was aiming down and so he could smell it a little longer. "better?" He didn't look all that friendly.

Ah... That's bad for your health, you know. [ but the girl who's jogged up to him is smiling, anyway. If awkwardly. ]

They taste like candy. (He had such an odd smile on his face since the kindness behind it is way out of place for what he's saying.) You should try one. (Just not one of his. He blew out some smoke high into the air.)

[ And Kanaya is standing here in front of...Nanami, was it? Still somewhat perplexed at her unexplicable, glowing white skin, and also looking around at who is gathering, whether in front of either prefect or the other people who seem to be trickling down here as well. ]

[The awkward moment when you see someone who looks like a younger version of yourself! She knew that it was bound to happen eventually but she still didn't think it would ever happen to her.]

[ While still trying to get her bearings, her name is called and her instincts kick, so she walks over to uniformed girl.

It doesn't stop her from peering over to the other group of prefects, though. Japan had heard her friends' names being called out as well. Barely a moment in this place and already separated from those she knew... what should she do now? ]

[ she ticks Japan's name off her list with a flick of her finger against the paper, and then looks back up at her with a faint smile ]

Ah, do you have any questions..?

[Louis waddles over, somewhat slowly. His slate is kind of messed up and dusty, similarly to one of his wings, due to the fact that he forgot he could use water to clean it. However, he's already written a new question on it.]

What is a prefect?

A prefect is a perfected Weapon, of course. And because we have achieved that distinction, we are granted authority and responsibilities... Such as this one.

[ there's really not a whole lot he can do about this situation. so where normally he'd put up a fight, it's with a pretty damned wary eye that Tim puts his cigarette back in his mouth and manages as dignified a hobble as he can to the girl that called his name out. damn leg. ]
