>Sis: Bother Dave.
Characters: Sis Strider & Dave Strider
Format: Prose
This log is: Closed.
Location: In town, on Rest day.
Summary: This is a beautiful sibling log.
Warnings: Idk, none.
Saturday afternoon makes almost two weeks Sis hasn't spoken a word to Dave. Which makes walking into town awkward today. She knew she hadn't the slightest of what to say to him, and she was showing up completely unannounced. She had been having a feeling that after the previous round in Conquest, Dave would either be relieved to see her or she didn't really know. This was just extremely awkward.
Approaching the building was even harder. She thumbed her PDA and thought about sending him a text. But that wasn't happening. It was going to stay unannounced, fuck if Dave didn't want to see her or something.
Nonchalant as ever, Sis pushes open the door to the music shop and leans on the counter. She tutted at the the fact Dave wasn't attending the front of the shop at the moment. Dave will be hearing a rapping on the counter as his sibling rings the service bell.

His sunglasses were sloppily taped back. He looked like those sad kids who got their glasses snapped in half that they had to use tape to tape the bridge back together.
The scratches on his face were already scabbing over, and his clothes were scuffed up. All in all, it w as so obvious that Dave just got into a fight before going to work. He didn't look all too happy either.
He pretty much freezes though. Recognizing Sis automatically.
Fuck.

She just knew really.
Sis only had impulses now she assumed, she reached out to him, and somewhat ruffled his hair. "Dave." It was a sullen greeting. One could only guess why. "You have two choices here. You can talk about it and I won't do anything, or you can talk about it and I might do something of my own free will." Like the big sister she wanted to be. Dave might find it odd Sis was being like this now that they were stuck on opposing sides. She wouldn't condone her own reasoning either.
A thumb came to wipe away some of the blood on Dave's cheek. "You didn't at least wash your face off kid?"

He scowled a bit holding his PDA out. He was being awfully defensive right now.
what if i dont want to talk???
maybe its been dealt with and doesnt need to be talked about
He shoved her hand away, although for a split second it almost looked like he wanted to grab ahold of it. Two weeks without being able to even touch Sis when he knew he should be able to and that she was literally a school away. It was just another annoying voice in the back of his mind.

She matched his scowl almost perfectly. She seemed more than displeased with Dave right now. So much that she stepped closer, and closer until She was pretty much right in his face. Her thumb, this time covered in spit was cleaning the blood from Dave's face.
"Don't move." Or you'll be on the floor, said the unfinished sentence.

He shoved his PDA in her hand after she had finished and went to go sit at the counter, staring out the display window and looking anywhere but her.
i dont know why this is such a big deal
i got in a fight
someone couldnt handle some strider sass
and thought it was okay to touch my shit
that happened to be sitting on my face
so i didnt take her bullshit
but the prefect separated us
so yeah
shit is done and dealt with
dont you dare bother with doing anything about it
its a loss cause
plus the head prefect is fucking nuts
or something
thats it
im just being pissy
because i dont remember
where i got these shades
like i just know they were important
but its just one of the dumb memories i seem to have lost
anyways
you havent missed much if thats what youre thinking
same old shit
Even if it seems like a lot more has happened since they last talked. Even if he just got into a fight, he was being far more defensive about not talking then he should be. And he seems weary. Dave's sleep was pretty off and while he was settling back into a decent sleep schedule, he was still getting nights where sleeping was difficult if not completely impossible.

"Again? I figured you'd fought. But to get tore up this badly Dave." Though something was seeming more off than usual about her little brother today. "Stop giving people Strider sass all the time and perhaps this shit wouldn't happen." Yeah, she had to scold as well.
She places the PDA back in front of him and takes the glasses from her face, it is right then she realizes she's definitely missed something. Her face once again looks displeased and then back to somewhat mother henning him. "You just got into a fist fight, and you have bags under your eyes bigger than fucking Corpus Christi Texas." She shook her head.
"That isn't from the right you were just in, so using that excuse won't fly with me." No direct demand to talk about it however.

yeah
well shes gonna get the most beautiful black eye
so she can suck it
scratches are childs play
and it wasnt my fault she found me annoying
that didnt give her any rights to touch my shit
It wasn't like he was the most friendly kid either. He knew that as much. He knew Sis knew that too. He looks away though. It's obvious he doesn't want to talk about it. Why is she making him talk about it. He can handle this on his own.
striders dont sleep
It was a flimsy excuse. Because he doesn't know what else to say. Admitting to losing against nightmares is just uncool.

"Stop getting into fights with girls, little man." She takes Dave's glasses and sets hers next to him. "I know you think they probably look stupid." But it would solve the problem right? Sis could deal with not having glasses until she figured out how to fix Dave's. Perhaps a new set would be in order- but these were a gift.
She needed to talk to John again more than likely, about helping her fix them so they would be a gift from him yet again. Yes, good.
"If you don't feel like talking about what made you lose sleep, finish your work and we'll go sit out by the lake." Sis is unknowingly pushing buttons here.

Dave instinctively reaches out to take his glasses back, but stops. Mostly because, he can't figure out why they were so important. It's not like Sis would trash them right? Those were his. She wouldn't trash his shit. Even if it was stupid as fuck, she still wouldn't.
Although that didn't stop him from picking his PDA up so he can ask what she was going to do with them.
A clatter.
He had dropped it just as quickly. His whole body went rigid at the mention of the lake. The look of fear was unmistakable. Did she know? She couldn't have known. Not that many people know, unless he told them personally...

Her brow was raised after he dropped the PDA however. Something was definitely up. No, she didn't know a damn thing- but she was about to. Dave had gone stiff, and what the flying fuck do you do when your child does this? Not expect something to be wrong?
"Dave." She stepped closer, standing behind him and gently putting her arms around him, is this what you do? "I know something is wrong now. You don't just act like this for nothing."

"I can offer solutions, Dave."

He should talk about it, but he probably really won't. Talking about dying was never a strong point, and despite it being more normal for him, it was still something he couldn't bring himself to acknowledge.
But at least she's trying to comfort him. That's something.
