Training
Characters: Suzaku and whoever
Format: prose
This log is: open
Location: In a clearing in the woods
Summary: Suzaku freaks out a little about forgetting Japanese/the system deciding his language is english and translating everything into english for him (he hasn't decided which it is yet) and goes through sword training with a stick
Warnings: None
Training had always made Suzaku feel a little calmer and so it had been a coping mechanism since he was very young. So it was really no surprise that the moment maths class was over he had made his way into the woods, as far away as any gatherings of people and found a suibtable stick to fill in for a sword. His uniform was a little awkward to train in but it was the only thing he owned here apart from his Knight uniform and he did not want to wear that.
Especially not at the moment. As he started going through the farmilliar sword forms that Toudou had taught him he tried to keep his mind blank and to think of only the movements. But his mind was still spinning. He had forgotten Japanese, or the system (whatever the system was and however it even worked, he hadn't worked that out yet) had decided to translate everything to English for him. As of yet he hadn't decided what would be worse.
No he wasn't meant to be thinking! His movements which had ceased a little started up again and he did his best to keep his mind clear. How did the system work? Had they just decided on English because he was Lelouch's knight, or did the system scan your brain and work out... no that was a stupid thought. Systems couldn't scan your brain. Suzaku was being stupid and he knew it. "Concentrate," he muttered and went back to the sword forms.

So, for the first time in their lives, they were on the same side. He had never disliked Kallen as a person, when they had gone to school together they had got on well. He even agreed with her cause, it was just her methods and the fact she sided with Zero, Zero who had killed Euphemia.
But Euphemia was here, and Zero wasn't so...
"Alright." He nodded politely looking decidedly uncomfortable.

What about this conversation was wrong? Kallen couldn't pinpoint it for the life of her and it was seriously disturbing. And the part about her killing Suzaku, she left that out. Somehow, if he remembered that it happened, he wouldn't be reacting to her the way he was.

"Alright," he said looking away again. He was prepared to have a truce but it felt awkward and he wasn't too sure what to say. "It's difficult, that no one remembers the same things..." He wasn't even sure if he was talking to her, or just to himself.

Kallen leaned against one of the trees. "Just what do you think you've forgotten, if you don't mind me making small talk."
no subject
He shrugged at her question but he was willing to talk if she was prepared to be friendly. "Your name for one, my family name is another," he frowned, it seemed to be small things that he could be certain he's forgotten the bigger things, the fuzziness he couldn't even pin down.
"Euphemia's face," he frowned, "I don't recognise her here, even though I know it is her; and when she’s not with me I can't picture her, there's a lot of fuzziness surrounding Lelouch, I feel like I'm missing something..." How Guren's pilot and Lelouch so close to be exact.
"It's stupid I can't even remember how to drive a Knightmare Frame... or how to speak Japanese..." He muttered the last one and then instantly regretted it, after all she would probably think it justice or something.
Maybe it was... "What about you..." He's pretty much told her he wouldn't ask what she knew, but what she had forgotten, that was different entirely.
no subject
Huh... the simple things that would not make any sense for them here, like piloting a Knightmare Frame. But when he mentioned that language thing, she raised an eyebrow. If she had went to her original hate, she woulkd definitely think that it was the best punishment.
"Well try and speak it to me now."

"The teacher said that this system translates automatically," he finally gave up and spoke in English, "so I'm not sure if it is that I've forgotten or if it doesn't let anyone speak more than one language." He didn't like the sound of that either, because English wasn't his language, if it was the case that it was only letting them speak one language he should be speaking Japanese.
He blinked at Kallen, "What language are you hearing, can you speak the other if you try?" His voice was intent, it was obvious that forgetting his language had upset him a lot.
no subject
It was strange really. Whatever system they were under forced all their words into English. Kallen didn't think much of it then outside of that everyone pulled here would understand each other. But she found out if you actually thought about speaking another language, preferably one that you knew, it wouldn't translate.
{I can't write in Japanese characters, so that's Babel fish's translation of, "But if you cannot understand me now, I am speaking Japanese."}

"I guess I've forgotten it then," at least this way he could get it back when he regained his memories he would just have to work hard to buy memory tokens. He changed the subject. "What have you forgotten? Have you worked any out?"

"Whoever has kidnapped us... they must have a lot of power to be able to Ge... er take our memories like this..." He had almost said Geass but he didn't know how much she knew.
"We need to find out who they are..."
no subject
She shifted her position slightly. "I agree." Kallen agreeing with Suzaku? That's a first.
no subject
"Lelouch's Geass only works once," he corrected, "others can be used many times, and only his Geass makes people obey him. There's other ones, like reading peoples minds and making people forget things or implanting them with new false memories, that could be how they took our memories and they want to make us fight for some reason and the memories is just a way of control... For all we know the translating thing could be a form of Geass, but there shouldn't be that many Geass users..."

"Other worlds?" He shook his head, "That makes no sense!"

"There's no such thing as other worlds..." If there were, well if Charles had managed to enter the world of C and create the Ragonok junction, if there were such things as other inhabitable worlds, then wouldn't he have found them...

"Forget it. By all means, make sense of the things you don't want to accept." The teenager pushed herself off the tree and walked past them. As they crossed paths, she spoke again. "There's something about you that irritates me and if I'm forgetting it, you better hope for your sake I don't remember."
no subject
He still couldn't wrap his head around the idea of other worlds but that had become a secondary concern. As she walked past him he looked at her, not quite meeting her eyes. "I... I'm sorry," it was weak and he knew it, it wouldn't mean anything once she got her memories back.
