Waking up [open]

Location: Conquest infirmary and then by the lake
Summary: On Wednesday Lelouch and Suzaku had a bit of an argument. Now on Saturday afternoon Suzaku wakes up from his coma, come visit?
Warnings: all the angst, lots of spoilers, usual Geass drama

[Open in the infirmary] Suzaku's eyes flickered open and he frowned as he slowly made sense of the new surroundings. He knew where he was quickly as he had spent a lot of time in the infirmary when Nunnally had been unconscious. He sat up slightly feeling dizzy and letting what he remembered wash over him.

In the dungeon, with Zero. Yes... Lelouch was Zero... Suzaku stared at his memory charm bracelet. Lelouch was Zero but he was also the emperor Suzaku had promised to serve. To bring about Zero Requiem.

He remembered Lelouch shouting at him, shooting his Weapon. He hated him... because Suzaku and Lelouch had spoken about what Lelouch knew and Suzaku knew that he somehow came from a later point in time than Lelouch... Lelouch knew nothing about Suzaku being his knight.

His hands went to the necklace round his neck trying to pull it off. No matter how hard he pulled it was stuck fast. He couldn't take it off... Linked to Lelouch... to Zero. To Lelouch who still believed Zero's ways to be the way to change the world.

He clenched his fists, not knowing what to think or what to do. Angry and guilty, he thought he finally had it worked out but now he was confused again, not knowing what to do.

[Private PDA text to Dolorosa] Dolorosa, it is Suzaku Kururugi from Conquest. Can I talk to you please.

[Later at the lake side] When Suzaku was finally released from the infirmary after he had eaten and changed he went to the lake. The ship was gone now, the waters remarkably calm. He sat staring out at the water, trying to piece together his thoughts. To work out what to do.

[They sit in silence for a moment before Dolorosa speaks again]

Please tell me what you know.

Even if she's not the best at showing it, she's saddened by this news. She was happy to find out that Gino and Suzaku are here but she doesn't know what to do outside of taking orders and, well, hanging out with Gino.

"Oh, Fortitude. I can go to Conquest?"

Suzaku returned the look, it was much better for Anya to be in Fortitude away from Day or Santana, both for her sake and theirs.

Mainly theirs if he was being honest. "If you are a Weapon and your Player is from Conquest you can." He sat up a little bit more and reached out for the box that held his possessions he had had with him when he entered the dungeon with Lelouch.

[Suzaku studied the desk, she needed to know because Zero could not go around blowing up towers. Especially since Lelouch had told him they should stay low and work on winning the game. He had lied to him...]

This... It is more complicated than I originally thought. Zero needs to be stopped but...

Suzaku glanced to the side and then at the island. He didn't know what to think, if Lelouch was not angry anymore. It did not change the fact that Lelouch only knew Suzaku as having betrayed him, almost killing his sister, filled with anger over the fact that he had killed Euphie...

The anger was still there but muted, no more driven. Towards their goal of creating a peaceful world for Nunnally, a world where their own crimes would cause so much blood and so many tears that it would wash away Euphies crimes.

Lelouch had been his enemy and before that his friend. His first friend, for a very long time his only friend. Now he was neither...

He nodded turning to face Lelouch. "You could have hurt someone."

[She watches him and can tell how conflicted he is about the matter]

But Zero is someone close to you, is that not correct?

"So if you end up teaming up with someone and they fight Conquest, make sure they lose!"

What was ethics, really. He knew Anya wouldn't care that much, anyway, but if her weapon was as powerful as Mordred they'd have a hell of a time making a loss convincing. He thought about it. "Try and find someone weak."

Speaking of, Suzaku's movements caught his attention like a string pulled in front of a cat, and he perked up. "Su-za-ku~. How's your jewellery collection coming along?"

Maybe more confusing than suddenly being here and having Suzaku and Gino act like they've been here so much longer is being told to lose, but it's something she is capable of doing. ~~Then again they'd just look at her and go aww look at the cute loli who doesn't know how to fight, and then she can beat them all later. This could work to her advantage.~~

She nods, try and find someone weak and lose on purpose. But her attention gets pulled away from the prospect of losing a battle and towards Gino's sing-song voice. Jewelery collection?

[A very long pause and then a nod.] And someone I swore to serve... though I seem to come from their future... [He hates this place and the fact time is weird.]

Suzaku nodded at Gino's advice, "If either of us are Players we can win you and then you can come here whenever you want."

He shrugged and pulled out the three upgrade rings, his memory bracelet was obviously still on his wrist and his link necklace couldn't be removed. "That one is Don's, not mine," he gestured one of the rings. Two upgrades of his own. He put them on so he wouldn't loose them.

Time is very unreliable here. I am aware that you are close to a few people here, but if you are sworn to protect them, I would assume that it is the person you are linked to.

"Huh, you need to get serious about this," He blinked down at Suzaku's two personal upgrades, then rummaged in his pocket for a second to retrieve his set. He held them out so Anya could see, having picked up on her interest.

Or what passed for interest with Anya, anyway. Wevs. "Right, right. These are upgrades. We only get five at first, okay? But they're cool... Gino's got more than Suzaku 'cause he's won more battles and he has a great partner. You'll probably get them fast, too. Just challenge a lot of people."

"Good morning." A familiar voice chimed in from behind Suzaku as a pair of arms wound their way around his shoulders and a chin came to a rest on his head. As she settled herself comfortably against the knight, a smile quirked Britannia's lips as green eyes glanced down at that mop of brown hair.

"Feeling better?"

He could have defended himself, he could have told him that the charge was shaped perfectly, and that there was no way he could have known there was a personal connection to any of the existing staff members. He would have preferred that it was Day, but things had ended up the way they were. There was nothing he could have done about that. But he let Suzaku's comment remain where it was, unchallenged.

"I've learned a lot about those towers since that day. Would you accompany me in finally discovering their true nature?" The conditions for that were nearly clear, once he had convinced a few more stubborn individuals....

Suzaku stiffened as he felt arms wrapping around him, since he had already seen Gino today he guessed even before she spoke that this was Britannia. "You're heavy you know."

He shrugged at the question, he wasn't sure how he was feeling at all.

[Dolorosa why are you so good at this?

Suzaku nodded, a slight movement of his head.] Yes... Lelouch is Zero...

An uneasy silence, Lelouch could of harmed others and Suzaku had told Dolorosa Zero's identity. Suzaku didn't speak, he didn't regret telling Dolorosa and he did not think it would harm their chances of escaping this place.

He stared out at the tower, he had no doubt that they held the secret to their escape, for they didn't seem to serve any other purpose. He nodded, turning to face Lelouch and brought his arm up to his chest. "Yes my lord."

"Of course I am, I'm the largest empire in the world." Britannia replied calmly as she gave his head a fond pat before settling down beside him. He had his 'thinking' face on again, she noted absently, something she was quick to point out to the knight by pressing her finger against his brow between his eyes.

"You're getting wrinkles."

[She's magical, that's why]

[She nods along with him, it makes so much sense. He's a prefect and has more access, he was the first person on the scene when her tower was attacked]

Lelouch, I see. We will have to deal with that, do you have any suggestions?

[Dolorosa can't say she knows how to deal with terrorists]

So she needed to collect this jewelry in order to get stronger, it would be like getting Mordred upgraded. Okay, she can do that. Anya leans over to get a better look at the upgrades. She had to get stronger in order to defeat, uh, someone. For someone else? Who knows.

She rummages around in her pocket and pulls out the Raks she received earlier, "Money for upgrades?"

By agreeing in that fashion, it set off a few thoughts in Lelouch's head. He sighed, and lowered his shoulders. He looked tired. "I don't want your allegiance if it's merely from an obligation that is irrelevant in my timeline. I want you at my side because we share the same goal." It seemed odd, to make demands like these so soon after what he'd done. But this was his way of proposing a clean slate to start over from. Suzaku would need to break through his pride to get a proper apology.

Actually Suzaku had won more battles than Gino but he had bought Lelouch and Feferi's upgrades with his money. He didn't say anything though because he didn't want to confuse Anya. He nodded at her question.

"When you fight you get more money, and you can buy upgrades with it."

Suzaku was relieved when she stopped draping on him, he had enough to try and wrap his head around without being smothered.

Of course his peace only lasted a few moments before she started poking him. He stared into the lake. "Did you need anything Britannia?"

At the question, Britannia gave him one more light prod before pulling away. Leaning back and resting on her elbows as she glanced up at the sky, she admitted: "Not particularly."

It wasn't as if she had anything demanding to do these days. As far as explorations of the island went, her searches had yielded very little in terms of usefulness and she had eventually given up the task altogether, coming to the conclusion that if two weeks of searching told her nothing, another two would be the same.

Although, she should probably go searching for Cornelia soon to reveal her identity to the princess as she had done for Lelouch. After all, as far as the chain of command was concerned? Cornelia ranked much higher than her current would-be Emperor, which meant she should now be taking her directions from her. However, that wasn't a meeting she was looking forward to which was why she intended to put it off as long as she could.

With a sigh, Britannia quietly brought her hand up and ran it through her hair, uncharacteristically messing up the blonde locks, as she turned her eyes upon the troubled knight again and gave him a silent look over, feeling annoyed that he was still so down. "How long are you going to brood?"

Suzaku's eyes narrowed and he looked away back over the lake, they did share the same goal. That was the point, that was why Lelouch had any allegiance from Suzaku at all. They had a goal in common and by working towards it they could forget, work past, all the wrong they had dealt each other.

"We do, never doubt that."
