Location: Conquest infirmary and then by the lake
Summary: On Wednesday Lelouch and Suzaku had a bit of an argument. Now on Saturday afternoon Suzaku wakes up from his coma, come visit?
Warnings: all the angst, lots of spoilers, usual Geass drama

[Open in the infirmary] Suzaku's eyes flickered open and he frowned as he slowly made sense of the new surroundings. He knew where he was quickly as he had spent a lot of time in the infirmary when Nunnally had been unconscious. He sat up slightly feeling dizzy and letting what he remembered wash over him.

In the dungeon, with Zero. Yes... Lelouch was Zero... Suzaku stared at his memory charm bracelet. Lelouch was Zero but he was also the emperor Suzaku had promised to serve. To bring about Zero Requiem.

He remembered Lelouch shouting at him, shooting his Weapon. He hated him... because Suzaku and Lelouch had spoken about what Lelouch knew and Suzaku knew that he somehow came from a later point in time than Lelouch... Lelouch knew nothing about Suzaku being his knight.

His hands went to the necklace round his neck trying to pull it off. No matter how hard he pulled it was stuck fast. He couldn't take it off... Linked to Lelouch... to Zero. To Lelouch who still believed Zero's ways to be the way to change the world.

He clenched his fists, not knowing what to think or what to do. Angry and guilty, he thought he finally had it worked out but now he was confused again, not knowing what to do.

[Private PDA text to Dolorosa] Dolorosa, it is Suzaku Kururugi from Conquest. Can I talk to you please.

[Later at the lake side] When Suzaku was finally released from the infirmary after he had eaten and changed he went to the lake. The ship was gone now, the waters remarkably calm. He sat staring out at the water, trying to piece together his thoughts. To work out what to do.

"-- totally comatose," the voice - likely both recognisable and unwelcome - filtered in from the corridor. "Not much to record, but Suzaku's Suzaku, right?"

The footsteps halted, and there was the briefest of pauses as the arrivals apparently spent half a second contemplating knocking. And then discarded that idea completely. The door opened rather suddenly.

"Ta-da, one kni-- Oh, hey. He's awake."

Anya was following behind Gino, listening to him babble on about what was going on and how Suzaku was in a coma until they finally reached the medical bay and it turns out he woke up. Maybe Anya is his lucky charm or something. Gino didn't enter the room so Anya was stuck peeking at Suzaku from behind Gino~~'s massive body, seriously how are you that tall it's not fair~~.

"Suzaku," she nods over at him as a greeting.

Hello Suzaku, how may I help you?

I remembered who Zero is.

Suzaku looked around at the words and blinked at Gino. "Oh..." He wasn't sure why Gino was here, they hadn't really spoken all that much. Suzaku knew that Gino came from his future but to Suzaku the last time he had seen Gino he had been trying to kill him. It made conversations strained.

His eyes widened at the familiar pink hair. "Anya?"

[it takes a few moments for her to answer]

Is this a conversation you would prefer to have in person?

"I found her at the station!" He almost sang it, walking further into the room and, after a moment's hmming and haaing, ignoring the rickety visitor's chair to sit on the end of Suzaku's bed instead. If there was any strain to the conversation, he'd clearly made the executive decision to totally forget about it. "You woke up too early, man. I was gonna draw on your face."

[It is even longer before he answers.] Perhaps that would be for the best.

She nods again at her name. It was curious, they both acted like they haven't seen her in such a long time but she was sure she just saw both of them not too long ago. She briefly thinks about what Dirk told her about timelines but shakes off the idea rather quickly, that's impossible. She knows what year it is.

At Gino's admission she walks over and shows Suzaku the markers they were going to use, really they were fully prepared to draw on him. Whiskers maybe, that would have been a good touch.

I was informed that you were in a coma for a few days, would you rather I visit you in the medical bay or would you find my office a more secure place?

I can come to your office. If they let me, they told me I was to stay in bed. [Guess who isn't happy with that order.]

Suzaku shook his head, slightly amused despite everything. "I'm glad I woke when I did then."

While I am concerned about your health, this is a more serious matter. I am heading there now so any time you feel well enough I will meet with you.

I will be there soon. [He heads to explain that the Fortitude headmistress wishes to speak to him and after a quick check he is free to go.

He makes his way through the city sticking to the quieter streets, not wanting to see anyone and was soon knocking on Dolorosa's office door.]

[Dolorosa is pacing in her office, nothing has happened since her tower was attacked and she was worried something big was going to happen this round]

You may come in.

[He enters and closes the door before standing studying the far wall. Automatically standing to attention but not speaking yet.

Then they were doing their self-appointed job. "Nah. You're still shaky, right? We've got time."

Oh, right. "Speaking of time! Anya's in Fortitude, so we'll have to sneak her into campus if we want to hang out together next week."

Lelouch had earned himself some time to make some plans, run some interference, and finally sift through the memories he'd acted on so rashly. Finally, they made sense. He knew he'd been unreasonable. Nunnally had said that she hadn't been harmed in any way whatsoever by FLEIJA, and other things they'd discussed when they'd seen each other again matched up with what Suzaku claimed. And that's not even taking into account Gino's actions on the train. And it couldn't be a case of memory losses, because it would be far too much of a coincidence for everyone's memory to be modified in such specific ways.

So he checked a few likely places for Suzaku to be, and was not surprised to find him back here, as close to the scene of the crime as he could get.

"...And yet, I chose you as my knight, and I will always entrust Rolo and Nunnally's safety to you," he said, as though continuing their earlier conversation.

Wait, what? She wouldn't be with them? She missed that part of the tour. Confused she looks between Gino and Suzaku, "Fortitude?" Where was that and why did they need to covertly being her somewhere else.

[She can tell that he is tense, the pose of a soldier, she thinks, it doesn't change from one planet or another.]

[Dolorosa goes to sit down at the desk an motions for the chair across from her]

Sit, please.

[He seems not to hear at first but then sits silently. Nodding at her politely.]

Suzaku looks at Gino, did he just pluck her from the station with no explanation and bring her here? Somehow it doesn't surprise Suzaku. "There are two schools, we are in this one, you are in one on the other side of the city."

Whoops. Ah well. "Yeah, we're in Conquest." He lifted the sombrero up a little so she could see the beret squashed underneath it, "I'm one of its prefects, too."

It was probably for the best that Anya was in Fortitude. He honestly had no idea what one of their headmistress's assembly 'celebrations' would do to her. Or make her do. He traded a look with Suzaku that said exactly that.

Suzaku glanced round at the sound not even needing to check to know who it was. His eyes quickly returned to the lake as he mulled the words in his mind. They weren't angry or full of hatred like on the ship, but those ones rang clear in Suzaku's mind. He had done many things that he was not proud of, that he shouldn't have done.

"Do you regret it?" Could you even regret things you hadn't technically done yet?

He responds quickly. "No." He comes to a stop directly beside Suzaku, staring similarly out over the lake. But his eyes were on that tower they'd visited before. Considering all of the information, that was the only conclusion he could reach. There was literally no one else he could entrust with the duties to which Suzaku would have to be assigned.

"Did you tell her the truth?" He meant Dolorosa, of course.
