Too Many Striders: Black 2-A shenanigans redux
Characters: Dirk, closed to Black 2-A roommates (Dave, David, Daenerys) and anyone else with a reason to be there (mainly Jade and Jake, feel free to tag in if there's some reason your character would drop in though)
Format: Whatever
This log is: open to roommates
Location: Black 2-A
It's 10AM on Sunday morning, before the assembly, and if you've forgotten that Dirk Strider is a person who exists, then nobody could blame you, because he's been in the shower for the past two and a half hours.
Once Black dorm is completely out of hot water, he comes moseying back into 2-A, dressed in his Fortitude uniform with a towel wrapped around his hair. Feel free to complain, or, alternatively, to notice the shield symbol that is most definitely on the back of one hand even though the Players for the round haven't even been announced.

There. Added myself to the address book in case you ever need me.
How're you settling in? [ There are no words for how immensely curious he is about this other Dave. ]
no subject
...what is an address book?
no subject
A handy little feature that stores numbers and names. Familiarize yourself with it for the sake of this game.

...Once he can tell what the words on it are. He holds the screen closer, trying to read it. Finally, it taps against his sunglasses; at that range some of the light goes around them. He exhales quickly; the sound could as easily be innocuous as of pain. Momentarily blinded, he held the PDA to the side until his vision returned.]

Uh, you can read, can't you?
no subject
...I just can't read this.

[ Dirk isn't sorry. ]

To claim weakness is present misrepresents the facts. I am a denizen here, but not through my own acts. If I'm to read a screen with the sheen of the sun, there has to be a way to pay to gain a dimmer one.

It's free to adjust the contrast and bright. Push here [ he points ] to open the settings and turn down the light.

SET DATE/TIME]
no subject
The seventeenth of February, ten thirty-three.
Don't fret, once that's set the brightness option will be met.
no subject
When the display changes, he presses buttons until the brightness goes down, lifting up his sunglasses only to squint at the screen and turn it down a couple more levels.
Then he goes back into settings and changes the date and time to the ones Dirk had said. It takes longer than it should, and he holds the PDA really close to his face while doing it, but this time the entries are correct.]

Is it really that hard on your eyes? Ah, push here to magnify.
[ That near-rhyme hadn't even been on purpose, but he's going to go with it, because he's amazing. He points to the little zoom-in button. ]
no subject
[He zooms in until it's pretty big, but hey, he doesn't seem to be having difficulty reading it now.]

Well, looks like you've got the hang. If you need to complain about anything that pertains to that device, you can have my advice free of price.
[ "Hang" and "complain" is kind of lame but he's pretty sure his fetch modus would have allowed it so he's going to go with it. ]
