[ The video turns on to reveal a Jade that is grinning wider than any girl should legally be able to. She points at her hair. ]

I don't really know how long I spent on earth after all my friends got into SBURB, but I think it's close to my birthday at home. I'm fourteen! So for my birthday, I got my hair cut. I couldn't get the mats out, and I really like it short.

Dirk, will you wake me up in time for your movies? I don't want to miss them, but I want to sleep right away!

'Well home isn't really that great. I mean, especially for you. Right now, home is a meteor going to another session where we apparently have more things to do.'

[And he's scared. He won't admit it, but he is. There's a lot of things he doesn't know. And more people meant trickier time loops to deal with. It was scary to think about.]

'You know I suddenly spent a year not being able to talk to you or John? It pretty much sucked. I woke up and suddenly I hadn't somehow seen you for a year but it was only a few hours.'

[ Wait, what? Oh, right... The Hegemonic Brute showed up in his room while he was distracted. But then... Dirk knows his dream self isn't dead, since he remembers going outside after that and watching Roxy fly off into the void like a piece of gargbage. But. What happened there? ]

[ But she doesn't want to think about that. It's scary, too. So instead she rubs her thumb against his cheek reassuringly. ]

'Sorry. Home should have been with us.'

[He means it. He just kind of nuzzles her hand, bringing her closer to him.]

'I know I will. Or some version of me will. I don't mind. Being here isn't that bad. I get to see you here and smile and laugh.'

It's okay. It had to happen, right? To make everything else right?

[ She lets him; not that they're practically on top of each other or anything. ]

But I bet I do that at home a lot, too.

[He's running a little late with all of this. He'd forgotten to get the pendant at the shop earlier while he was getting his other orders. Luckily Dirk had thought ahead and gotten it for him instead.

And a memory charm which ...well. Made visiting with Jade all the most significant.

Jake was currently standing on a golden bridge just ...looking up at everything in pure awe. He'd heard stories about what it was like but he never quite fathomed this. Prospit was a wonder to behold, indeed.]

[she shrugs] I mean I do plenty at home between Glee and Cheer and school and applying to colleges, but I think I'm doing more here.

[ Jade spots him as she zooms along, and suddenly he's being tacklehugged by one Grandmother ectosibling. ]

Hi Jake! What's up?

[Oh snap! That sure was a tackle hug! Jake shouts in surprise and when he realizes who it is that just jumped him, wraps his arms around her tightly.]

Hey missy.

[Yeah he's...not letting her go for a while. He's still really upset about that memory he got back.]

What's Glee? And were you one of the cheerleaders like in pictures?

[ She seems over enthused. ] I never got to go to public school, I was too far away.

[ She picks up on that upset vibe, and rubs his back a little. However, she doesn't make any motion to release him, either; Jade may not have forgotten her Grandpa, but she still missed him sometimes. ]

Is everything okay?

[Deep breath. Stop looking so dumb in front of your Grandma, she taught you better than that.]

Yes- Of course. I'm sorry, Jade. Just ....very glad to see you, is all.

[ She realizes that something must have happened, and so she decides to do what her Grandpa did whenever she was upset. She thinks it should work -- he's kind of her grandpa, after all, and he seems a little unnerved.

So she stands on tiptoe and, motioning for him to lean down just a little, kisses him on the forehead, smoothing down his hair. ]

I'm glad to see you, too. When you told me that you hadn't seen Prospit before, I was really sad...but I'm glad that you get to see it now. It's my favorite place in the world.

[It takes a lot for him to calm the bubbling in his chest when she does that. Because it was something that his Grandma had done for him when he was still little. He was just so glad to have this time with Jade now, even though his grandma was long gone.

Make the best of it, English, while you still can.]

It looks absolutely wondrous. Am I gonna get the grand tour?

[He smiled now, a bit better than before, at least.]
