Characters: Dirk Strider, open to anyone
Format: Whatever you prefer
This log is: open
Location: Around Rakuen
Warnings: Strider language
After shenanigans at Recette's shop, Dirk has some deliveries to make -- memory charms for Dave and Sis, and memory charms plus upgrades and those Prospit dreaming pendants for Jake and Jane.
Aw man, and movie night is tonight also... He's gonna be busy today.
Throughout the day, he can be found around Fortitude and Rakuen, and lurking about outside the borders of Conquest.
((OOC: A separate, mingling-type log will go up later in the week for the movie night thing. Keep an eye out! ))

"Hey, English. I was just about to go track you down. I got something for you."
The pendant now dangling around Dirk's neck was just a hint as to what he had in store.
no subject
"Really? What a coincidence because I did, too."
And then he riffled around in his pocket, pulling out something that he kept concealed in his hand.
no subject
"Did you? Shit, thanks." He wasn't gonna say no, but his smile did get broader. Poker face? Like he needed that right now. "Hope you didn't get yourself one of those Prospit pendants, by the way. If I sell this one back I'll only get half the price I paid."
no subject
"Luckily for you, getting one entirely slipped my mind at the shop earlier."
He reached, taking the pouch and then replacing it with what Jake had in his other hand. A memory charm and an upgrade ring.

Dirk took the pouch in one hand and upended it, dispensing its contents in his other. This was a look of pure and genuine glee. "You shouldn't have. Thanks a lot, bro."
And here he's fastening the charm to his bracelet to see just what it is he gets to remember this time. Something important? He sure hopes so.

He recognized the two upgrades, but he quickly zoned in on the memory charm. Oh boy, he was gonna get something back. How exciting! He was sure missing a lot of information.
Before he did, he looked up to see that Dirk had already affixed his own charm. He waited to see what he would get back.

He shrugged and eyed Jake's memory charm curiously. "Well, put yours on. Let's see what you've got."
no subject
But okay. He takes his and carefully clips it onto his chain.
Oh. Oh.
That's why he could never figure out what happened to his grandmother. To Jade. Killed in the woods and laid out bleeding for a much younger version of himself to discover.
What a horrible night to have to remember.
Jake goes stock still and just. Stares at nothing in particular. His posture tenses up harshly and then slowly goes limp, causing him to eventually drop to his knees. It looked like he was in shock, more than anything. He just didn't know how to react to something that vivid in his mind now. Something that had originally faded with time being dredged up fresh again.
It hurt more than he expected.

Dirk's eyes widened behind Sis's shades and he knelt in front of Jake. Reached his hands out to take his friend's shoulders and shake them gently. "English. English. Hey, Jake, snap out of it."
What the fuck could he have remembered that was affecting him this deeply? Dirk thought back over the past couple of weeks, trying to recall which memories he was aware Jake had lost. And--
Oh, shit. "Your grandma?" he ventured.
no subject
"Yeah," was about all he could manage. He suddenly didn't trust his voice.
He slid on his upgrades to sort of give himself something else to do and think about. An archer and a bunch of hearts. Huh. He had no idea what any of that meant. Oh well.
no subject
He glanced down at the rings and the symbols that appeared on them. "Looks like you got a Dexterity boost and... shit, I don't remember what that other one's supposed to be but I know I saw it in the manual. We can look it up later."
He wasn't going to stand up until Jake was ready to.
no subject
But he didn't move immediately. Rather he swallowed, made sure he was going to stay together, and then pushed himself to his feet again. He took a deep breath and then exhaled as steadily as he could. He was fine.
"Sorry about that. Wasn't expecting something quite so jarring to fall back into place." He offered him a small smile.
no subject
"Not a problem. Just glad I was able to get something back for you." Sure, it would have been nicer if it were something happy, or even something balls-fucking-stupid like Dirk's had been, but this was still something important. One step closer to recovering everything Jake had lost.
"I'm heading back to Fortitude, I've got some stuff for Jane and Dave too. Let's go."
