Gifts and things [Active/Open]
Characters: Dirk Strider, open to anyone
Format: Whatever you prefer
This log is: open
Location: Around Rakuen
Warnings: Strider language
After shenanigans at Recette's shop, Dirk has some deliveries to make -- memory charms for Dave and Sis, and memory charms plus upgrades and those Prospit dreaming pendants for Jake and Jane.
Aw man, and movie night is tonight also... He's gonna be busy today.
Throughout the day, he can be found around Fortitude and Rakuen, and lurking about outside the borders of Conquest.
((OOC: A separate, mingling-type log will go up later in the week for the movie night thing. Keep an eye out! ))

And this is Dirk, reaching out to unfasten the memory charm from Dave's bracelet and attach it to his own. If he's quick enough to do it unhindered, that is.

He did kiss someone! Technically it wasn't that romantic of a smooch and he can't remember it anyways.
He jerks his arm away, but Dirk probably got the charm off before he can move his arm away from the other. Fucking typing and making his reactions just a little slower because of them.

All of a sudden, his name is Dave Strider and he's looking down at Sis's dead body.
"Holy fuck."

He's already getting to feet. Kid is gonna abscond if you don't do anything about it. Like Dave needs to try and hide again because he doesn't want to deal with these emotions.
Dirk probably even saw the part where he basically deflected Terezi the entire time. The part where he admits he's not a hero. He'll never be.

Dirk pushes himself to his feet to follow Dave. "Hey, hold on. You gonna be okay?"

totally chill
it happened awhile ago for me
just happened to get the memory back
no biggie
Except he's totally not okay. Now he knows why he was so against seeing his Sis in the new session. Alternate, younger Sis.

"Yeah. Guess you would've had time to get over it."
Still, the sight of it must have been awful. Finding his guardian dead... Something Dirk had never and would never have to deal with. Bro had been dead for centuries before Dirk ever appeared on the scene. Instead he's trying to figure out how he'd feel if it were Jake or Jane or Roxy, and he knows he wouldn't take it well, although he'd do his best to keep his game face on and keep the game going smoothly.
So.
"Guessing you don't want to talk about it?" He just puts that out there. He doesn't know what he'd really say if Dave did want to, but he wouldn't feel right not offering.

If Dave were honest, he never got over it. He doesn't think he will. For all his nonchalant attitude, this type of stuff just stuck onto him. Hopefully Dirk just never figures out why this were such a deal.
He was the Knight of Time. How do you just live with the fact that every timeline you've tried to have her survive ended up doomed or just ended up with even more people dying? Why should he feel guilty? He does anyways. Despite being in control of the time, you couldn't make the alpha timeline void of anything bad. And maybe that's what made it worst. Despite being the time player, he had to be prepared that sacrifices had to be made. Sacrifices he didn't want to make. All the guardians dying. In the end, that was a choice he had to agree with. A choice that had to exist in the alpha timeline because it couldn't continue without their sacrifice.
naw im good
nothing to talk about
you saw it
or did

He turned to walk the opposite direction. His world's versions of Dave and all of his friends were dead, so when he thought about it, it made sense that Dave's world's versions of Dirk and his friends were, too. Not that he was just going to just up and ask Jade or anyone else about their guardians.
Yeah. Don't recall it all that clearly now that the charm is off. I just know in a textbook sort of way what happened, without any real emotional connection to it.

its nothing
people die all the time
no reason to get all upset over it or whatever
no subject
Precisely. That's a nice, logical way to think about it.
And yet he remembered that when he'd had that memory, Dave hadn't really been all that okay with it. He'd actually been pretty distraught.
And hey, it's yet another uncanny similarity between our timelines.
no subject
its bound to happen since your timeline is a direct result of the scratch
its supposed to be filled with similarities since its supposed to be the same people playing a shitty game together
[And he already knew that his friends and himself weren't the ones playing this time.
He also knew of the time discrepancies.]
no subject
Yeah.
And that's really all there is to say about that.
