White walls. Boring white walls had stared back at her for ages. Rapunzel hadn't seen pure white walls since she was old enough to hold a paintbrush. To be frank it was a bit unnerving for a girl who was used to decorating everything in sight.
So an array of paints was requested and received, and she eyed the wall above her bed. It clearly need some color. So a splash of purple morphed into flowers as she painted up the wall.

So, the tiny girl is at the foot of Rapunzel's bed, leaning across it, head propped on folded arms, watching with wide-eyed. It's like she just appeared there, being so quiet when she snuck over and flopped down there to observe. It never crossed her mind that someone might be just as startled by that as they would with loud noises.

"...Did you want to try?" There were several brushes and tons of paint.

"Do you think people will mind this?"

"...are there metallic ones? Ooh, here. And red. I'll need red! For his coat~..." Wait. The tiny girl stopped and frowned for a moment. "...was it Edward? No, or was it Alphonse..." She puffed out her cheeks, pouting, and huffed, annoyed. "Fine. I'll just put them both in it! May I use the silver, Rapunzel? Um. Aaand... these colors..." So many colors. "And... these brushes?"
/spies on them but is too scared to enter
Now he was watching quietly. The adults at the desk had said a lot of confusing words to him, like the fact people could be weapons, or that he was a 'discard', that was apparently a bad thing but as far as Romeo could understand it meant he was not owned by anyone- he failed to see how not being owned was a bad thing.
Maybe in this school the adults were bosses just like in Milan, maybe you could only learn here if they owned you. Maybe the kind lady on the roof owned this little girl. Romeo watched as they painted, it looked very pretty, like Angeletta’s pictures.

And Mother wasn't even here to get mad about them. She grinned as she splashed on blue paint until her guilty conscious caught up.
"Hey Mei...do you miss your parents?"

At least her brush strokes were really nice and smooth? She had Xing's written language to thank for that one. Bamboo, mountains, colorful birds, tigers...
Eventually she did glance away from her painting, looking back to answer Rapunzel's question, when she spotted Romeo peering into the room. "Hi!" She waved at him. Wavewavewave. "Why are you hiding over there?"
As for the question, well, she shifts her attention away from Romeo and back to Rapunzel. "Um. No. Not really. I have only met my father once and my mother can't leave the Imperial city to live with our clan, so while I miss her... it isn't because of this place."

Caught he stepped into the doorway proper. "I'm sorry! I heard voices... that's really pretty!" He kept glancing at the adult, she had been kind to him on the roof but you never knew with adults and he didn't want the little girl to get into trouble.
