[Forward-dated: Monday afternoon] [Tower Boss #2]

Location: Conquest campus, starting from the tower plaza and spreading outwards.
Summary: As the Conquest Tower opens, the island enters its second boss battle. Read this if you're confused.
Warnings: Fire.

[ This battle is nowhere near as surprising as the arena wyrm's attack, but there's something fundamentally terrifying about globs of fire raining down on you from the sky that that last one didn't have. Whilst the buildings, with their sudden blue sheen, seem immune to the flames, the Players and Weapons outside of them are a tad more exposed.

The firebird is content to make regular, swooping passes at the fighters, which whilst dangerous due to its talons, puts it within range of the melee weapons. It isn't very fast, and is forced to avoid the roofs of the campus in its attacks. Its fire is only dangerous when it's directly overhead. ]

It might be too difficult to fetch water without blastia... Let's concentrate on physical attacks, instead.

[ Arthur's surprise makes him smile, and remember a time when it would have seemed strange to him, as well. ] Good hunting.

[The King was flying? Merlin hurried to him and the blonde haired prefect. Also there was a bird whose tail was on fire. A magical creature, in a world with no magic...

This place made less sense by the moment.] Be careful!

[Arthur doesn't know what blastia is but he can assume that it has to do with the water magic that he wouldn't do even if he could. (Except maybe he would because people are in danger? Who knows, really.)]

[He gives Flynn one solid nod before attempting to fly again, almost stopping when he hears Merlin call out. Instead he keeps going and calls back]

You idiot! [he is careful to not use his name so he can't claim to have blacked out and missed the rest] Get out of here, tend to those who are injured or whatever it is you do.

[ He moves next to Merlin, waving Arthur away. If they slay the creature, there'll be no danger. That comes first. And then he processes what Arthur was yelling, and frowns thoughtfully at Merlin. ] You're a doctor?

[Name or not Merlin ignored Arthur because there was no way he was letting him fight a magical creature alone. Anyways there were no injured yet and if they were they would need tended here, there wasn't really anyone to get them away from the scene.

He looked at the blonde haired prefect instead] Not really... I was an assistant to Camelot's physician.

[lalala trying to hit the phoenix, flying is fucking scary and he never wants to do this again.]

[Also, Merlin, you better not be there when Arthur gets down]

[ After a pause, Flynn flips his own sword around and proffers the hilt to Merlin. ] It has an Elemental Shot ring, so you don't need to get close to attack. Use it as you would a magic staff.

[secretlyuseful]

[Merlin takes the sword, frowning a little when Flynn seemed to assume he would know how magic worked but he didn't argue because there wasn't a point anymore.] Thanks but, don't you need this?

[whitestknight]

[ he blinks, and smiles genuinely as he indicates the store-sword at his side. ]

Oh, well thank you! [Wait a magical staff... his own magic didn't work which meant he didn't have much chance of using a magical staff... He looks at the sword, wondering if he had to say a command.]

[whitestknight]

I've activated the ring already, so just point the blade towards the target. [ having drawn his backup, he demonstrates, flourishing the sword at the firebird. ]

[secretlyuseful]

[The ring... oh yes the upgrade rings. He nodded and pointed the sword towards it and blinked as sparks of light shot towards the phoenix.]
