This log is: open
Location: Conquest campus, starting from the tower plaza and spreading outwards.
Summary: As the Conquest Tower opens, the island enters its second boss battle. Read this if you're confused.
Warnings: Fire.

[ This battle is nowhere near as surprising as the arena wyrm's attack, but there's something fundamentally terrifying about globs of fire raining down on you from the sky that that last one didn't have. Whilst the buildings, with their sudden blue sheen, seem immune to the flames, the Players and Weapons outside of them are a tad more exposed.

The firebird is content to make regular, swooping passes at the fighters, which whilst dangerous due to its talons, puts it within range of the melee weapons. It isn't very fast, and is forced to avoid the roofs of the campus in its attacks. Its fire is only dangerous when it's directly overhead. ]

[She hesitates before she takes it.] Okay! But do you think we should get closer?

[greenspaces]

[ She nods. ] It keeps flying too high, even for my lightning bolts... [ And then she has an idea. ] Jadesprite, do you want to get really close?

[sobsprite]

What do you mean? [that thing is kind of scary D:]

[greenspaces]

I need someone to take me up to Sora! I'm not sure what's going on, she could be in trouble. You should come too, so we can keep an eye on each other and make sure we're safe.

[sobsprite]

Huh? [She looks up at it then down to Jade] Are you sure about that?

[greenspaces]

Yes! We need to help Sora, or she might get hurt! [ Turning to face Jadesprite, extremely serious!! ] You don't have to do anything you don't want to, but I believe in you, okay?

[sobsprite]

[She considers for a moment. But the urge to take care of Jade is too strong.] Okay. [She flies a couple feet up and reaches down.] Hold on. I won't drop you. [This is a terribly dangerous idea and setting a bad example for your grandson.]

[ SOMEHOW STILL CLINGING TO THE BIRD ]

[greenspaces]

[ WE'RE COMING SORA Jade reaches up and holds on tight! ]

I know you won't! Let's go beat the bird!

[sobsprite]

Okay! [And up they go to the birdy! Dodging fireballs is fun!] Augh! [But she's got a firm grip on Jade's hand]

[greenspaces]

[ Jade is holding on crazily tight, but when they get above the firebird she looks up and nods. ]

Okay! We can land now, right beside Sora!

[sobsprite]

Okay. I can do this. [Who is she trying to convince? She matches its speed and drops altitude slooooowly.] Okay.. okay... okay... [Down down down.]

[greenspaces]

[ And Jade lands softly on the firebird's back, safe and sound. ]

Jadesprite, you're the best!

[sobsprite]

Eeh? Um Th-thanks! Be careful! [And off she flies with the other Quill to keep pace with the flying bird and blast it!]
