sorry about the wait!
Someone else was there, though, sitting below: a human making odd noises and not really moving. Pip watched curiously. It wasn't asleep and didn't look injured, but this wasn't something she had seen any other humans do.
"Hello! What are you doing?"
No worries! :D
"I'm crying. Y'know, what people do when they're upset?"

"Are you hurt? You shouldn't be out here all alone if you are. Something might eat you."

She fluttered down and landed next to the human, crawling over to snuggle against Becca's leg.

Oh, that was nice. Pip closed her eyes and leaned into the hand petting her.

No one would be able to come with her unless they could fly. But if her home was just across the big lake, she could return any time.

"Are you new?" Pip was pretty new herself, but she didn't remember seeing this human before. Talking mid-flight wasn't likely to work well with someone who couldn't keep up, though. She'll crashland on Ein's head if he lets her.

...Funny, Pip looked just like a bat, but bats couldn't talk! Must be something else.

...And even though it was very confusing and she still didn't really understand what had happened, Pip was sure that she had won the tournament! Maybe this human didn't know what a bird was. She had better go tell it.
Pip landed none too gracefully next to him. She sat up and squeaked out, "I'm not a bat! I'm a bird. I have feathers," those were feathers, right?... "and claws, and my mama has a nest."

"How did you get up so high, there?"

"I flew." Of course.
