Open Log: Gardening Class
Characters: Nanami Yasuri and YOU.[ The sky is clear, the air dry and surprisingly cool even in the morning sunlight. In the shadows of the trees, it's positively chilly, and will be until noon. As the class assembles, Nanami is shivering slightly in her uniform, but nevertheless she seems as composed as always.
Format: Any
This log is: open
Location: The Fortitude grounds, near the forest.
Summary: Ever wondered which vegetables grow best in the shade? No? Too bad, this class is compulsory.
Warnings: Nanami being a creeper, probably.
The class itself should go quietly, if no one decides to make a fuss. She'll answer non-Gardening questions if she can be bothered, of course. Today she'll be teaching you all about shaded vegetables - leafy plants like pak choi, lettuce and spinach, and root vegetables like carrots. For example. Having grown up on a small wooded island, she's very knowledgeable about growing food in suboptimal conditions, but explains it in a rather vague, terse way.
After class she genially allows each student to collect a basket of vegetables from the patches already cultivated. ]

[ A shrug. ]
You guys clearly don't want to be teaching any more than any of us want to be learning. And these classes don't get us any closer to beating Exaclan and getting out of here. So what's the point?

Woof!
Nanami, how long do these take to grow? [Poking at the green parts of some carrots.]

[after class]
We should give some of these to the kitchens.
