Characters: Yuka Kazami [au], Samuel Henderson, and/or Sanae KochiyaIt hadn't really been a long day, by most standards. Really, it wasn't even that late in the afternoon.
Format: Prose
This log is: closed
Location: Conquest Dorms - White 2-B
Summary:Yuka's attempt to get some reading in is interrupted by a sharp poke...
Warnings:none
But then, it wasn't really the length of the day that made the difference, it was the events. Waking up in a foreign land, finding that your wife has already been there for weeks, but has been de-aged and doesn't remember you, that you yourself have forgotten things and you don't know what they are...
Put that all together, and it's no surprise that someone would say it'd been a long day. And that's not even taking into account the whole "battle school" thing. (Well, the "battle" part was comfortable and familiar, although the details might take some getting used to. School though? She'd been somewhat bemused to learn that she was to be a teacher and not a student. Although if they hadn't offered her a plant-related subject, she might have suggested everyone would be happier if they put her in as a student instead. After all, what did she know about teaching? But maybe knowing the subject matter well would make up for that.)
At this point, all Yuka really wanted to do was find her room, settle down, and do some reading. The Exaclan manual ought to at least answer some questions (and probably raise others), and everyone said how useful these PDAs were, so getting a better idea of what to do with that would probably be a good idea.
Finding her room was simple enough. She'd been told earlier where to look, and the door already had her name on it.
It was the settling down part where the trouble started. The room held five beds, but only one seemed to have been used recently. After a moments consideration, Yuka decided to take the one nearest the window. She was a partial sun type, after all. But when she sat down, she felt something hard jabbing into her backside. She quickly stood up and pulled aside the covers, revealing a familiar-looking ring. Cirno had shown her a similar one earlier in the day, and she'd seen ones with blank faces in the shop earlier. But this one wasn't blank - it had a marking of a pair of wings on it. And next to it a small pendant - a memory charm?
As she picked up the charm, she was struck by a sudden realization - carved vegetables shouldn't be eaten!
...Not that she was entirely clear on what a carved vegetable was.
Warily, she deposited pendant and ring in the cabinet next to the bed. This must be what Cirno had mentioned earlier - that people who disappear leave behind a memory charm and a ring. She hadn't realized that such a charm would contain a memory belonging to someone else though, although it seemed reasonable in hindsight.
Then a thought occurred to her. Where there was one, could there be more?
A quick search ensued, although she skipped the other bed that was in use out of politeness. Underneath another bed, she found another pair of items. The ring (showing a heart-shaped padlock and a key) went in the cabinet, but rather than store the charm likewise, she sat back down and let the chain dangle from her hand, staring at the slowly spinning pendant at the end. Another person's memory... she wasn't sure how to feel about that.

"More like I found something..." she replied, sounding more than a bit distracted. Then she blinked, consciously realizing that there was in fact a new person here and that she ought to introduce herself. "Ah, you must be the other occupant of this room. " (She was using the term "other" a bit loosely, but Sanae was just as new as her, so it was close enough.) "I'm Yuka Kazami. It's nice to meet you."

"And I may have to take you up on that offer sometime. The class I'm going to be teaching shouldn't be too dangerous most of the time... but for some things that it would be good to have medical assistance standing by."

He glanced over at Sanae. "Oh, hi there." He was a bit glad there were some new people around, even if it was unfortunate they'd been taken from home like he had.

She was making the most of the current situation, so any trace of confusion and worry was erased from view. It was nice to see that she'd be staying with a few other people.
