It was though, Suzaku thought. After all forgetting how to tie your shoes was harmless compared to forgetting how to take important medicine, and some peoples memories seemed more dangerous than others. He waited quietly while Vane decided, checking the supplies and the map. It wasn't much different than an army exercise so Suzaku wasn't too worried.
"I guess," He nodded and took the cylindar, it was pretty easy to work out, after pressing the button and taking a moment to figure out where everything went. "Alright I think this is correct..."
Vane held still as he watched Suzaku, wincing slightly when he felt the syringe puncture skin. Fingers curling slightly in reflex to the unexpected pain, he breathed slowly through his mouth as a familiar cooling sensation spread through his body from his wrist, carried by the blood. When the chill hit his chest, for a moment he had to struggle to breathe as his lungs seemed to not want to obey him. Like the cold had slowed every organ inside his body.
Then it was gone, as if nothing had ever happened with only a small drop of blood on his skin to signify the use of the syringe. Though his arm felt weak, probably because of the injection, he was already feeling better. Especially now that the pain in his chest had completely faded away.
Slowly taking a deep breath, this time the smile he gave Suzaku was much warmer. "Thank you, you're a lifesaver."
Suzaku was a little worried at the reaction but a moment later Vane seemed fine and Suzaku nodded. "Don't worry about it. How often do you need them?"
He would make sure he got the medicine when it was needed, even when this trip was over. It was wrong of this place to force him to forget such things.
"As needed is the general rule but once a day usually does the trick." Vane replied as he wiped at the drop of blood before rolling his sleeve back down. "I believe the maximum number of injections per day is two, it's a pretty potent painkiller." He added.
"So if you could do this for me before we set out for the day activities this week, I shouldn't slow you down anymore."
Suzaku nodded, "I don't wish you to be in any pain, so if you need a second injection please tell me." He put the needle back in the pack. "Are you ready?"
"I'll let you know if the situation changes." Vane replied with sincerity in his voice as he finished zipping up his bag before shouldering it. The movement was smooth and clean, not hindered by the pain that had been plaguing him thus far.
