Location: Fortitude Courtyard
Summary: Becca and Shion decide to see if they can link despite Becca being linked to Alex. Pain happens
Warnings: Warning penalties and sad teenagers

Shion went into the shop with his and Becca's money and bought the link charm before going back to Fortitude. Becca could have come with him but it would be best if they did this on campus in case this went horribly wrong.

He met Becca in the courtyard. "Ready?"

"Ready," she chirped, draping an arm over his shoulders and taking her half of the charm. "I mean, there's no reason a three-way link shouldn't work, right? It'd just make all of us one set..."

"It should work." Shion agreed and looked at the charm in his hand, "So how do we do this? Just put them on?"

"That's right," she said, reaching up to put her own charm on and watching him in amusement.

Shion smiled at her and nodded waiting until hers was on before fastening his own around his neck. For a moment nothing happened and then pain hit him from all sides. He went down with a yell scrabbling at his neck until he undid the catch. The pain was still there though, he felt like his head was going to explode, every muscle was on fire.

Becca however would find herself completely unharmed.

The moment it was clear he was in pain, she reached up to undo her own, eyes wide. Her fingers shook a bit, but she managed to get it off quickly. Then she dropped to her knees beside him and moved to pull him into her arms. "Are you okay?? Is it over?"

The pain faded once both link necklaces were off and no longer touching skin. He trembled in Becca's arms but nodded. "Are you? I... think so..."

"I didn't feel anything," she answered, setting the charms a good distance away from them both. She patted him gently, stroking his arms and trying to soothe him. "I guess we'll just have to stick together the old fashioned way. It's not so bad."

After a few moments Shion had recovered enough to sit up, "I'm glad," he said, because he didn't want Becca feeling any pain, especially not that level of it.

"Yes, I guess that answers our question." Despite the pain he felt satisfied that they had come to a conclusion with their experiment.

"Yeah, I guess," she said sadly, still rubbing his arms and cuddling him close. "I'm sorry..."

"Don't be, we had know way of knowing if it would work. And it was worth the try." He smiled at her, trying to convince her he was better.

"I still love you, though," she murmured soothingly, running her fingers through Shion's hair. "My brother, right?"

"Of course." Shion smiled, it still felt weird having someone who cared for him so much because of memories and moments that Shion didn't have and had never experienced but he believed her and tried her best to act like she expected him to.

She sighed and squeezed him gently, not sure what else to say to him. "Maybe we can re-sell these and get some of our money back..."

"Hopefully, I'll go and see tomorrow and give you half of whatever Recette gives me." He smiled at her again.

"We could go together?" she offered. She'd kind of dumped her friendship with Shion in his lap and never really given him a chance to respond to it, and then they'd also turned around and not particularly had time to actually rebuild their friendship. "We need to spend more time together... You've just kind of had 'yeah we were friends' dumped in your lap...and you're so nice that you put up with me for all of it, but...you shouldn't have to be pulled along like a rowboat in a whirlpool..."

Shion nodded, "Alright then if you want to come with me..." He nodded though he didn't think he had been pulled along. He liked spending time with Becca and Alex and though he always felt guilt that he wasn't their Shion; even if he was the same person as far as he could tell, he enjoyed their friendship.

"I'd like that."

"We'll even see if I can get permission for you to stay over with us one night. We'll have a little sleepover and we can talk about everything, all night."

"That would be fun..." Shion had never had any thing like a sleepover before, but he was happy to do anything to get to know Becca and Alex better.
