There was nothing left.
He'd seen the inexorable advance of the Tower Guardian he had helped to defeat, the rapidly decreasing population of Conquest. He could only assume Fortitude was having similar problems.
There was no time anymore, and he was going to die.
It was time to say goodbye.
With a small scrap of paper and a pen, he began to write.
Fia, Lina, Serene, Cierra, and Rose:
I'm sorry, but I won't get to see you again.

He stuffed the written note into his prize bottle and gently set it afloat into the lake, sitting down with his head buried in his legs.

So far he had nothing. Nothing. He worried every time he wasn't near Arthur (like now) in case he was next to disappear, to fade away like others had.
He saw the man at the lake side, they hadn't spoken but he had seen him in the assembly, there wasn't many people to remember after all.
