When Children Gather

Location: One of the pavilions hidden in the woods.
Summary: Lyra and Mei try to get an alliance amongst the younger students going. (During 4th Day color swap event, btw!)

[Hey, kid, did you get that note? Someone may have passed it to you between classes or during mealtime or told you about it directly, in hushed tones like it should be a secret. The information was simple: some kids thought it might be a good idea to form an alliance, to keep other kids from having to get dragged into any actual fighting. There were also directions, to a shaded simple wooden pavilion in the woods.

A huge blanket has been laid down over the floor of the pavilion, not unlike a picnic blanket. Lyra brought along snacks; cans of soda and other treats. At one corner of the blanket are pieces of paper held down by a rock, along with pencils and pens, in case they needed to take notes or record anything.]

[Lyra cleared her throat, and gazed across the assembled group.]

All right, this is what my intention is. You might know already, but if you get five weapons, you don't have to fight anymore.

I want to set something up so all of us can use that part of the rules- if we all promise that we'll all be the Weapons of whichever kids are players during a round, then they'll get five tokens and won't have to fight at all if they have five Weapons.

The next thing I want to talk about, en't something I'll ask all of you... Just those of you who're used to doing dangerous stuff, and are willing to do it again.

Mei and I... We want to find out the secrets of this school- what's being hidden from us. Maybe, just maybe, there's something in those secrets that'll let us find a way back to our own worlds. But again- this could be dangerous, so we don't want everyone to sign up.

[He fusses with the necklace partially embedded into his neck, a little worried-like.] Um... well, I already have a Link Charm with my brother... He's not gonna be a Player next round since he was this round but if he ever is again then I'm automatically his Weapon, so... I can help, but not always.

That's fine then. Besides, it means you only need four more Weapons next time you're a player, right?

Right. [nod!] ...oh, um-- do you think we should get Link Charms to help? All of us, I mean?

Maybe- but they're expensive, right? Five tokens each... Besides, if we make the promise anyway, maybe we won't need 'em?

Oh, right... I guess that's true.

[Her opinion of Russel, imagine how low it is.]

H-He is not! [So sad] And I bought the Link Charm anyway.

But he hurt you. [Siigh, so much sigh.] ...though I guess you can't do anything about the charm now.

...I know... [sigh. He should have expected that other people wouldn't be able to see what he sees.]

[Mei raises a hand, waving it a bit to get attention.]

What about those who can fight? If another kid goes up as a Player the same time me, I should let them get the help instead, right?

Yeah, I think that's a good idea- I know some of us can fight, but we should make sure those who can't don't have to learn.

[Romeo nodded] Also if some of us can fight then we should and win more tokens, to share with everyone. That way people who can't fight still can get their memories back.

Raises a hand quietly

[Romeo raises his hand and waits to be noticed.]

What happens when we are all weapons? Or when there’s more of us as weapons then there are players? Some of us, only the ones who don't mind fighting should maybe become weapons to adults yes? [He frowns, he’s unsure about this idea himself, with adults being evil and all that]

I've been thinking, not all the adults here are cruel; some are kind. Maybe we can make a list of the adults who are kind and who can become our bosses? Then another for adults who will hurt us and we should avoid. [Fletcher's brother is going to be first on that list!]

Bosses? [he doesn't think much of that word at all.]

Uhuh [Romeo smiles, the little boy seemed very mistrustful but Romeo was used to that, he reminded him of the littlest Black brother whose name he couldn't remember sadly.]

Exaclan bosses [He points to the mark on the boys hand] You've got one of those marks that means you've got a boss already this time.

Well, if there's more than five Weapons for a Player, we should have a list of adults who're all right. But I en't sure how likely that is.

And if we're all weapons... We can find adults who don't want to fight either, or just... hire ourselves out- those of us who don't mind fighting, at least.

[Nod, nod] That's what I meant, maybe if some of us hire ourselves to bosses we know wont hurt us we can learn more things about the school and earn tokens for everyone else! If we have the names we know who is safe and if anyone is won by anyone who we know is going to hurt them we can make sure to win them back!

Yeah... I think the grownups who're my Weapons this round are probably safe, so we can start the list there.

And if anyone gets won by a bad person, we'll definitely win them back.

[Nod and looks for some of the paper and pens] What are their names?

[He frowns at the paper and sighs before handing it to Lyra] I can't write, I forgot. But Miss Sora is definatly a nice adult, and mister Kuchinawa, he's my boss for this round. And Miss Repunzal!

Let's see... Meryl, Gino, Rafiel, Montblanc, and Road! Although Road's a kid too.

[Starts writing down the other names he mentioned too.]

Oh I met mister Gino, he's tall! Miss Reiko is nice too. [He pauses and thinks and points to the other sheet]

For the ones to make sure we don't let anyone be weapons of, Fletcher's brother [Big frown at this one] Mister Togyou [He is creapy, Romeo has to share his dorm] and Mister Shoujou [He tried to hurt Miss Sora. He is surprised the list of nice adults is much longer than the one of cruel adults.]

I haven't met any really bad ones yet, though. Anyway, the grownups are all stuck here, just like us.
