On the second evening of Round -2, the following notice is broadcast on the Utopia online network, and also displayed on the video screens in the lobby with an accompanying voiceover.

"Please be aware that the following facilities are off-limits to Weapons without the permission of their owners, or unless required for classroom use: The library, computer labs, swimming pool, gymnasium, and boathouse. A written permission slip is acceptable.

"Tonight's after-dinner dessert will be chocolate fudge cake. Please note that Weapons may only have dessert with the permission of their owners."

"You're a Weapon," Reiko said, as though it were plain as day. "The Players here aren't part of some abusive male dominance system, so I guess they needed some way to get you to agree to find one."

He made a sound of disapproval, and started to pace. He muttered something about the military not even being this bad. "Dammit, I need an ass to kick to fix this."

Military? Huh, where was this guy from, she wondered.

"If you make a vow with a Player you'll have plenty of asses to kick," she replied. This guy was kind of amusing, if a typically violent jerkish type. "They just won't be the ones you want."

"If I have to work my way up, so be it," he replied. "And there's no way in hell Fletcher's getting a Player, either." He started to pace, on a short track.

"Fletcher? Who's that, a friend of yours?" She tilted her head as he paced.
