backdated to [Round 2, Rest Day]
Characters: Yuka Osada, Sora Himoto
Format: whatever works!
This log is: closed (unless you want to come watch sword training, idk)
Location: Gym
Summary: Yuka attempts to figure out how exactly one uses a sword.
Warnings: none at time of posting
After hearing from Kallen that you could actually train with your Weapon before a real battle, Yuka had gone to find Sora to ask for some practice. It wasn't so much that she really wanted to win her match the next day, but she didn't want to make a complete fool of herself, or accidentally hurt herself, Himoto-san, or her opponent because she didn't know what she was doing. Plus Himoto-san had been so nice in volunteering to help her, and she'd feel terrible if she lost the fight right away after that. She knew she probably couldn't become good at fighting in just one day, but she could at least...not be completely incompetent, surely.
So the two of them made their way to gym (hopefully there wouldn't be as many people in there?), and over to a good empty spot. (And Yuka tried not to think too much about gyms and basketball teams and if this place took memories away why couldn't it take that one?)
She turned to look at Sora and frowned slightly. "So do you just...pull the sword out?"

"At our academy, we used to say a phrase to draw the weapon. It was kind of cool... 'Utopia is here!'" She gestured along with the words automatically, hand moving out towards Yuka in a dramatic sweep, then realised what she was doing and pulled her arm back to ruffle the back of her head sheepishly.
"Ah, but that's not necessary here, I don't think..."

...And she managed to feel silly even in her own mind, so maybe doing it in reality wasn't the best idea. "Uh, maybe we could not do that..."
Oh, but you did need the glove, right. That part was definitely in the manual. She pulled hers out of her pocket and slipped it on her hand, then looked back up at Sora. And then after that you pulled the weapon out of-- er. Th-That was a little awkward but if that was how it worked... She stepped closer to the other girl, hesitating a bit.

...yeah that was definitely a sword. And pulling a sword out of someone's chest was definitely weird.

"Lucifer. But... that symbol?" What about it? It felt important somehow. She frowned, brow creasing a little, but shook it off as her memories went blank again. Save it for later. "You did it, Yuka!"

She probably wasn't doing this right, but she tried waving the sword around a bit anyway, experimentally.

Swish, swish, slash.

"Karin? Are they a friend of yours?"
no subject
Well, she didn't know. He'd just vanished one day.

She kept the other half of her attention on what Sora was saying. For a little bit? Oh, the woman in the video had said something about some people leaving, hadn't she? "Was he one of the people who left?"
no subject
"Yeah, and some of the other boys from my school. Reiko too. A lot of people I care about left." Her smile was sad, but present. They were here to help Yuka, after all. "I just have to believe that they're okay."
no subject
It was nice that she'd had people from her world here, at least. Though that would make it even more sad if they left. "Well, maybe they went home?"
no subject
"That's what I'm worried about. I guess it's hard to believe, but it was better for them here."
no subject
She paused for a moment at Sora's statement. "Better here? Why?"
