Round 2 Tournament Preliminaries

SHORYU vs KALLEN KOZUKI
ROAD KAMELOT vs. GRENN ATAIR
MOLLY HAYES vs. MIWAKO IHARA

Location: Main Courtyard, Tournament Stadium
Time of day: Afternoon.
Special Rules: One Weapon or set of Weapons per battle; Players may not leave the stadium.

[the announcement rings through the campus all morning, on the half-hour: Can all participating Players report to the Tournament Stadium for midday with their chosen Weapons. The event will begin at twelve twenty-five for all other students.

Yes, that's right, the Tournament Stadium. During the early morning of Day 1, the staff were hard at work constructing a stadium in the main courtyard. There's raised seating for all students, and a large open-air ring for the participants. There's more than enough space even for fliers, and a number of raised areas, stairs and chest-high walls to make battles more interesting. At the end of the stadium is a large screen showing the ring from above.]

Suzaku wasn't quite in the stands; he was stood near the entrance of the tournament ring watching silently as Shōryū and Kallen greeted each other. He was mainly just hiding from Enki, he knew that the man did not want to watch the tournament as he disliked violence. Suzaku was avoiding him because he knew it was slightly worrying to watch someone who's weapon was being used and he didn't want to upset the Kirin.

It should have felt weird; after all if everyone had a weapon inside of them then surely when it wasn't inside you there should be a feeling of something being missing. But there wasn't. Suzaku felt normal, he watched silently not wanting to go up to the stands in case there was a problem.

Meanwhile, Gino was on standby as Kallen's second, so he was more than close enough to zero in on Suzaku when the Weapons were shooed out of the ring.

"Yo," he limited himself to one hand on the guy's shoulder, for the sake of propriety. Or something. "Feeling worried? You'll still get dessert when she wins."

Suzaku blinked at Gino but didn't try and shrug the hand off his shoulder, he knew if he tried Gino would just drape on him more and this way he wasn't trying to support Gino's weight. He shook his head at the words, he couldn't reall refute them though because, well the Guren pilot was a very good fighter and he had never seen Shōryū fight. Enki had said their kingdom was peaceful but to get it peaceful Suzaku was pretty sure they had had to fight.

And despite what Enki had said about him, from everything Suzaku had seen of Shōryū he did not seem the type of person to leave the fighting to others. "I'm not worried." He wasn't, not really; he didn't mind being lost to the pilot, they had agreed to put their differences behind for the moment. He was only worried because if Shōryū lost Suzaku and got into another fight he might make use Enki's weapon.

"Yeah? Good for you." The tactic seemed to have worked, Gino didn't try to claim any more of Suzaku's shoulder or neck. For now. "Hey, did you get any memories back yet? 'Cause Kallen got me a few yesterday."

Suzaku blinked and looked at Gino, if he had got memories back and he hadn't tried to kill Suzaku yet. So he hadn't remembered that Suzaku had betrayed him. Suzaku didn't know if he was glad about that or not.

"No, I haven't got any memories back yet, what did you remember?" His voice was almost casual.

Enki on his hand wasn't hiding, but rather sitting on a bench close enough to the stadium he'd know who'd won or lost and could go and check Shōryū out after that. He'd first thought to just stay in the dorm, or wander the edge of the wooded parts on the opposite end, but...

People could end up in a coma if a hit was severe enough, or their weapon was broken. He hoped no one's weapon would break today, or at any point.

(Let's just hope Shōryū would never need to use his. The idiot would blame him or something, surely, when it broke...)

She'd been sitting in the stands before it was her turn and had now returned for the last battle; she'd done the same yesterday, it seemed like a good idea. She was rather surprised, still, over having seen someone disappear like that. All of the others had disappeared during the night it seemed.

When the ring she was now twisting around a finger had dropped to the ground when Road disappeared, she'd unthinkingly rolled forward and picked it up. Now she felt kind of guilty though.

First, the girl disappears in thin air, she gets declared winner just like that, and then the ring drops and she picks it up...

But she hadn't done any hacking, so there was no reason to feel guilty... With a surprised blink, Grenn realized she recognized the simple geometric pattern on the ring.

Romeo had come to watch the tournament, because it had been where everyone else was and the fights were interesting to watch, especially since some of the weapons Romeo had never seen before. But now he was scared, someone had disappeared into thin air, one minute she was there and the next moment she had vanished and the other girl won.

That other girl was sat not far from Romeo; Romeo was watching her cautiously. He had already met one witch at this school, and people who could make people disappear into nothing were definitely witches, and not nice ones at all.

Romeo wasn't paying attention to the battle at all, just watching the witch in case she decided to make any one else disappearing; maybe she was feeding them to her goblins, or sending them to a cave where she would chop them up and use them for potions!

While she was deep in thought contemplating the possibilities of the ring, Grenn wasn't so deep down that she didn't notice someone staring at her. After a bit, she looked up, and spotted a small child intently staring.

She blinked, confused, but the kid just continued to stare. Did he want something? She didn't think she'd forgotten to button up the shirt, or anything, and anyway, she had a jacket thrown over both shirt and blazer and shut.

"Er... Did... What is it?" she finally managed to ask, wondering what was so interesting about her that he was staring so. It could be the missing legs, of course, but the kid wasn't actually staring at what was left of her legs, so...

Oh no! The witch had spotted him! Not wanting to take his eyes off her but not wanting to make the same mistake as last time in talking to the witch Romeo continued staring but trying to look like he wasn't.

He was trembling though, it was quite scary that he had been spotted, especially since this witch seemed more powerful than the witch he had met the day before.

Okayyy... Scratching her head, Grenn wondered what to do. The kid was still staring and was now shivering. Was he cold, too?

"Er... are you okay?" What else was there to ask? The kid was thoroughly confusing her.

First Battle: Shoryu vs Kallen Kozuki

Kallen had prepared herself for this. She was going to wind up going into this fight blind, not knowing anything of her opponent. Gino, Kotarou, and Huashi. These three were more than enough help and with them, well... she had an air of confidence.

She turned to her 'enemy' in a sense and bowed.

And Shōryū bowed back. Although he held a longsword loosely in one hand with its human source nowhere in sight, the undeniably Britannian make of the weapon would be enough of a hint as to his identity. He could have looked for Enki in the stands, but he doubted the kirin would attend. Didn't expect it, either.

"Are you prepared?"

"I am." Looking at the sword, Kallen knew who it belonged to. Not to mention that she had spoken to Suzaku the day before.

After Gino's episode, Kallen didn't feel comfortable using him as a weapon, so she decided to use Huashi's staff. Not to mention that she trained with Kotarou and Huashi more than Gino (because of what happened). But she began to think that Gino's partisan would have worked better here. The ex Black Knight knelt down and picked up her weapon.

"Interesting weapon choice," he commented, as he glanced leisurely around at the seated students. "Friend of yours? I'll try to be careful."

There was no talking on the battlefield unless there were orders. Kallen readied herself in the fighting stance Huashi taught her.

"Let's go."

Second Battle: Road Kamelot vs Grenn Atair

Almost immediately after Road climbs into the stadium, however, she vanishes into thin air. A popup box briefly appears in her place, the text likely unreadable to anyone but her opponent.

"Er--" The announcer on the loudspeaker stumbles verbally, before catching himself and calling out, "That's a win for Grenn Atair! Let's hear it for her, everyone!"

Well. Grenn scratched her head and stared a bit, from her end of the stadium. That was unexpected. And kinda felt like cheating, even if she hadn't done anything wrong. It wasn't as if she'd attemped another hacking this time.

Third Battle: Molly Hayes vs Miwako Ihara

Miwako was trembling as she climbed up into the stadium. She didn't want to do this. She really, really didn't want to do this. It wasn't fair to make people fight with each other. It wasn't right at all.

Molly shuffled in, why she was okay with fighting she really only wanted to fight bad guys. This girl did not look like a bad guy, nor has she done anything bad to Molly or any of her friends. Did they really have to fight?

"This is dumb!"

A little girl? Miwako had to fight a little kid? This was absolutely not right at all.
