Round 2 Tournament Preliminaries

SHORYU vs KALLEN KOZUKI
ROAD KAMELOT vs. GRENN ATAIR
MOLLY HAYES vs. MIWAKO IHARA

Location: Main Courtyard, Tournament Stadium
Time of day: Afternoon.
Special Rules: One Weapon or set of Weapons per battle; Players may not leave the stadium.

[the announcement rings through the campus all morning, on the half-hour: Can all participating Players report to the Tournament Stadium for midday with their chosen Weapons. The event will begin at twelve twenty-five for all other students.

Yes, that's right, the Tournament Stadium. During the early morning of Day 1, the staff were hard at work constructing a stadium in the main courtyard. There's raised seating for all students, and a large open-air ring for the participants. There's more than enough space even for fliers, and a number of raised areas, stairs and chest-high walls to make battles more interesting. At the end of the stadium is a large screen showing the ring from above.]

First Battle: Shoryu vs Kallen Kozuki

Kallen had prepared herself for this. She was going to wind up going into this fight blind, not knowing anything of her opponent. Gino, Kotarou, and Huashi. These three were more than enough help and with them, well... she had an air of confidence.

She turned to her 'enemy' in a sense and bowed.

And Shōryū bowed back. Although he held a longsword loosely in one hand with its human source nowhere in sight, the undeniably Britannian make of the weapon would be enough of a hint as to his identity. He could have looked for Enki in the stands, but he doubted the kirin would attend. Didn't expect it, either.

"Are you prepared?"

"I am." Looking at the sword, Kallen knew who it belonged to. Not to mention that she had spoken to Suzaku the day before.

After Gino's episode, Kallen didn't feel comfortable using him as a weapon, so she decided to use Huashi's staff. Not to mention that she trained with Kotarou and Huashi more than Gino (because of what happened). But she began to think that Gino's partisan would have worked better here. The ex Black Knight knelt down and picked up her weapon.

"Interesting weapon choice," he commented, as he glanced leisurely around at the seated students. "Friend of yours? I'll try to be careful."

There was no talking on the battlefield unless there were orders. Kallen readied herself in the fighting stance Huashi taught her.

"Let's go."

Well then. No talking it was, then. He huffed out a smile, and held the sword down at his side, the point almost touching the ground. And with two quick steps, he was within range, and bringing it back up in a diagonal slash.

If Kallen had her memory of hating Suzaku, she wouldn't care about the state of the male's weapon. But alas, that is not the case. So she jumped back and aimed for Shoryu's mid section with the staff.

Unfortunately for Shoryu's pride, his reason had won out in the planning stages and he'd decided to tone down his ability to fight for the time being. Five hundred years was a lot of combat experience, and if everyone knew that, he'd have serious trouble convincing anyone to fight him. So, for the time being he'd settled on a mid-level ability.

Which dictated he be slightly too slow to dodge the sweep of her staff. He let the flat of the sword's blade scrape along the other weapon, reducing the force of its impact, and took the rest of the blow with a huff of breath. He took several steps back, and promptly re-covered the distance with a horizontal attack of his own.

Kallen instantly jumped back. Hurting the weapons meant hurting the person who carried it. She eyed Huashi for a moment before directing her attention back to the battle in front of her. She ducked, barely dodging the attack, bringing a leg to sweep the male off his feet.

So she was worried about her weapons. That was encouraging. He allowed the kick, and timed his jump back so she still clipped the back of one leg. There. He staggered, and dropped his guard just a fraction.

Coming up from the kick, she moved forward, jabbing the staff to his the male's chest.

And true to the part he was playing, he didn't block it and toppled with all the predictability of clockwork from the blow. A wince as he hit the floor was swiftly replaced with a faint, admiring smile.

"A trained warrior, I see."

Kallen stood over him, staff aimed at his throat. "If you have time to talk, then you should be taking this fight more seriously."

Perhaps Shoryu's total unconcern at the threat of a staff under his chin betrayed his act somewhat, but perhaps not. Nothing of that sort could kill an immortal; there was no reason to even flinch. "I appreciate the advice, of course, but a man knows when he's outmatched. Good luck in the next round."

And with a raise of his hand, he conceded the match and Suzaku's sword disappeared in a flash of light.

Kallen removed the staff from the male's throat and backed away. So that was that and she won her first round of Exaclan. She wasn't how to feel about it since well, fighting other people on the basis of having memories returned to wasn't the greatest feeling. Not to mention the whole 'puppet on a string' doing exactly what they wanted you to deal.

But something seemed off. Did he throw this fight? It seemed as if he wasn't trying. Kallen decided not to question it.
