Returning memories
Characters: Lelouch vi Britannia, Suzaku Kururugi
Format: Prosey
This log is: closed
Location: Lelouch's dorm room
Summary: Lelouch gets some memories back and finds out that yes, he can have the wool pulled over his eyes more than once.
Warnings: Maniacal laughter.
Impatient was an understatement. After the recent round of conflicts with Gino following his recovered memories, Lelouch was determined to regain his own. So he actually started going to class, and participating, flawlessly answering the teachers' questions to gather together some tokens. He wouldn't have been adverse to battling for them, but there weren't any Players this round that could fight and that he could trust. So he chose this route. It was a useful expedient, at least.
So he led Suzaku into his dorm, and he took a seat at the edge of his bed. Suzaku had told him about what had happened to Gino, so doing this here seemed the best option. He reached into his pocket, and pulled out a small bundle twisted up in a handkerchief. He opened it up into his palm, and looked at them. One of these stood a good chance at being the missing pieces that Gino held over him. Or maybe them both together. "If I look like I'm going to pass out, don't let me drop them," he instructed Suzaku. The last thing he wanted was to have to do it twice.

Of course Lelouch would want to earn tokens to get memories back. He stood next to Lelouch and nodded once at his words, and watched wondering what he would regain.

A slow, fond smile came on his face. "I'll have to make pancakes for Nunnally," he finally said. "I'd forgotten they were her favorite." Something so simple, but all of what he knew of Nunnally was dear to him, so while he was still angry that it had been missing, he was glad that it was returned. He clipped it to his bracelet next to the one Euphemia had left behind.

He gave a small smile though when Lelouch spoke, Nunnally's faverite food. Suzaku smiled, "She will be happy you have remembered."

When he picked up the second, his eyes squeezed shut and he grunted, lurching forward as though he'd just been punched in the gut. He dropped the handkerchief in his other hand, and put his fingers to his temple. This one was a much more extensive memory than the last. The scenes that played back in his mind were of himself and Rolo, fixing finally on the first time they'd seen each other following C.C. unlocking his memories. No, no, no, Rolo was not his brother. He never had been and he never would be. He was attempting to take Nunnally's place, there as an insurance policy to keep Zero from ever rising again. The entire Student Council's memories had been modified accordingly, save Nina and Suzaku.

A low chuckle came from deep in Lelouch's chest in rhythm with his shaking shoulders. Slowly, the chuckle came more rapid, building in pitch. He lifted his head, but his hand remained on his face for a moment. Past his hair, his eyes shot open, into a perfect picture of madness. His laughter built and built until it was at an octave one would not have expected to come from his typically lower voice. He was loud enough for someone in the next room to hear, and possibly directly below them as well.

And what? His head was filled with mist and he just wanted to get out of the room, away from Lelouch because that laughter...
The fuzziness was starting to make him feel sick, nothing was touching his memories enough to make him remember and then forget but it was close but he couldn't think through the mist and why was Lelouch laughing like that.
What had he remembered that was so bad? Suzaku didn't leave but he didn't move back to Lelouch's side, instead he stood a few paces away wondering if the laughter, the madness was ever going to pass.

"Rolo never has been my brother," he stated. He remembered now, being held down before the emperor by a member of the Knight of Rounds, one eye covered, the other held open, to accept his memory modifications. He stood, still appearing to be on the edge of a dark madness. He pushed a chunk of hair from in front of his face, and lowered his hand again. "I will have to thank him later for his due diligence." For the moment, he was the demon that he would make his people fear.

Suzaku frowned, going cold. He knew that Rolo wasn't Lelouch's brother, he had known that Lelouch had forgotten that because of the way he had acted around Rolo when he had been here. Rolo had just been a scheme, sent in to control Lelouch after...
After what? Why would Lelouch had a false sibling, mist flooded Suzaku's mind again and he tried to shake it away. He had never cared for Rolo at all but seeing the look on Lelouch's face he was suddenly glad that the young assasain had disapeared from this school.
He stayed quiet though, just nodded once.

But it would not hurt to try, Suzaku nodded. "Yes my lord."
