FLOWER ARRANGEMENT

Characters: EVERY STUDENT
Format: Action/prose, whichever you want!!
This log is: open
Location: Fortitude school
Summary: FLOWER ARRANGEMENT CLASS
Warnings: oichi is creepy
Oichi arranges the flowers. It is a very simple arrangement-- one red spiderlily standing tall on its stem, and long stalks of some miscellaneous plant alongside it. It's all in a small black vase.

"So like this... yes... did you know? Listen, listen." She turns to face the class. She has some grasp on what she's supposed to be doing here, but does it with her own incoherent flair. Students have been set up with various flowers and containers; flowers sit on a central table, and containers line the walls.

The room is silent. "Did you know? That these flowers, these pretty red blooms, pave the road to hell." She laughs, hiding her mouth with her hands. And then she gestures to everyone in the room, spinning around and rushing limply behind her desk. "Your turn, your turn... Ichi will look at what you put together, so impress Ichi, ok...? Don't disappoint her... remember to be simple yet strong... beautiful like a death poem, ok?"

Dahlia sits near the back of the room. Flower arrangement had sounded right up her alley, but once she'd gotten to the class... She wonders if she'd get in trouble for leaving early.

She looks around a bit nervously.

"Um, I... N-no, I'm fine," Dahlia replies, leaning away from Oichi slightly. "I'm just... thinking! That's all..."
tenwholeryou: (and neither does your face)

lmao god

Kotarou was of about ten different minds about being here, but here he was. And glaring at the delicateblue pot in front of him like sheer force of will would make an acceptable flower arrangement. It wasn't fair. He hadn't trained for this!

But at least he'd seen some women in town doing this once, and Oichi had showed them, a little... so... the big bright thing went in the centre, right? That made sense. It was... what did you call it, tactics. Yeah. He grabbed one of the larger flowers he'd taken from the central table, and dropped it into the pot unceremoniously. Yeah, that'd do. And now some little ones and some leaves. He grabbed those too.
tenwholeryou: (pfff like I care.)

[personal profile] tenwholeryou 2012-01-17 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
"That's why I chose it." Yep. Of course. Kotarou is already biting back a retort for the 'ugly' comment, both because he has to admit she's right, and because he's still damn nervous around her. She's the first person he's met who gets more unpredictable if blustered at. "So what goes with it? Those things?" He points at random.
tenwholeryou: (... the shit is that)

"A sword? Flowers are like swords?" With this gem of wisdom firmly planted, he watches her arrange everything with a much more appropriate level of focus. Okay, simplicity. There were rock gardens in the temple. He can just copy those.

"Wait there! I'll do it again." And he runs back to the other tables to fetch a new dish and some supplies.

"Ah, Oichi," Nanami stands in the doorway with an armful of freshly-picked flowers and shoots. "I thought you would be here... Shall I place these with the others?"

People from their time are rare enough that Nanami is rather curious of her in return - well, she'll admit they aren't exactly companions in time; Oichi is apparently from the sengoku era itself, though Nanami is not familiar enough with it to recognise her name. She seems like the kind of person to make an impression, though.

"The students will learn to make better cuttings soon," she says, by way of vague almost-apology for the uneven stems and occasional torn leaf. Sloppy, and it reflects badly on her. If the Dolorosa didn't watch her... but she does. "Or maybe worse... I can't say they are good students. Not yet."
effortless: (chuckle; my faith is restored)

"I suppose it is... Well, it must have been annoying to me at first, but one must adjust when it is so difficult to remove them. I was terrible at controlling them initially. So many weak people in one place..."

Surely this class had to go better than the rest. Shion was slowly realising that all the other worlds did not have the same restrictions on the arts and other subjects as No. 6 did and his education in Rat's home had been only the tiniest part of what there was to learn.

But flower arrangement, Shion thought he should be able to do that. He sat watching as the strange teacher, she was a little frightening but she seemed nice regardless.

He took a plain red container and then stared at the flowers. She had said simple so... he took one blue flower and put it in the pot. He then stuck some leaves around it, having no idea if this was what she was looking for.

Shion smiled at her and shook his head. "No, what does it mean?"
savedbyasong: (greetings)

"A lotus," he repeated he listened to her, fascinated. A flower that grew out of the mud and water to be so beautiful. Of course, didn't all plants need water? The headache was starting again and he nodded at the teacher. A flower of enlightenment, coming from darkness into light.

"It is very beautiful miss."

[Now this is something Becca thought she stood a chance with. Becca picks out a three inch deep black bowl, and finds a large white flower of some kind. She clips the stem close to the flower itself, and floats it in the water in the bowl. The flower is just wide enough to touch the edges of the bowl. She does nothing else to it, and waits for inspection.]

I like dark things. But if everything's dark, it all runs together... I want to try something with purple next, but I need some advice.

[Looking to the teacher for help.]

[She takes it and considers it.]

I'd put small white flowers with it, to be like stars at midnight...
